8. Best Analysis

<Stockini>>>

It is too difficult to decide whether this is disqualified under "All categories for members must be for actual members." or under "<Best Analysis> Computer analysis does NOT count.">

What is left then? The presentation of a computer analysis by an actual member?

Ok,ok, I nominate <Conrad93>.

Jan-03-14  MarkFinan: Are you hell on my ignore list! Look, if you don't see wwhat my point is then let's just not discuss it. The whale post =funny and deserved. The funniest kibitzer (as someone before you nominated!)=funny for the wrong reasons!
Jan-03-14  MarkFinan: Btw John B... Top game you nominated by Aronian and Anand. Stuck it in my mini collection, gonna go over it with the engine shortly because there's a few tricks in there and im really familiar with that opening now.

  Annie K.: <The Caissars> thanks for the clarification. :)

For purposes of knowing how to count nominations like the one by <SoUnwiseTheKnight B4>, in case he doesn't return to correct it - i.e.:

1. count the first three nominations for Best Game and ignore the fourth;

2. Ignore all his nominations for Best Game, for being over 3; or even

3. Ignore the entire post, for breaking the rules -

Please take a look?

Jan-03-14  john barleycorn: Hey, <Mark>, one important thing which we both forgot!!!!! In which category shall we nominate <<tolengoy> and the <pugak>ettes>????
Jan-03-14  MarkFinan: I think we'd be violating some kinda law if we were to come up with something apt for them jb, haha.

  Annie K.: <Refused: <13. Player of the Year <Magnus Carlsen> winning the title should be worth something.

Runner up: <Wei Yi>.

Other notables: <Borislav Ivanov>. Like it or not, he was a really talked about a lot this year.>>

Please clarify whether you are actually nominating all 3, or just chatting about them?

Assuming he doesn't come back to clarify, I think choice #1 would be the most reasonable.

Jan-03-14  The Last Straw: Nominate (or second or whatever) for Player of the Year:

<The World>

<Borislav Ivanov>

<Wei Yi>

I would also have done Carlsen, but I see he's already in. Not sure about the rest.

Jan-03-14  The Last Straw: Same for Gelfand as to Carlsen.

I "nominate" <john barleycorn> for Funniest Kibbutzer.

  jessicafischerqueen: <Annie> I "seconded" <suenteus po 147> for Best Historian eh?

Unless I have misunderstood Cg.com's "clarification" of the disputed point, I actually can post unlimited "secondings" in any and all categories for any member who I didn't first nominate?

I believe that is what the decision is?

In this case, although I have used up my allotted 3 Best Historian nominations on <tabanus, whiteshark, and thomastonk> I believe I can still second any other members besides these three for the Best Historian category.

Jan-03-14  Shams: <jfq> <Unless I have misunderstood Cg.com's "clarification" of the disputed point, I actually can post unlimited "secondings" in any and all categories for any member who I didn't first nominate?>

Am I wrong or has this process become much more complicated than it used to be?

  jessicafischerqueen: <Shams>

heh... I think the admins will lay down a righteous ruling in the main forum soon. I hope so anyways.

Jan-03-14  Blunderdome: 8. Best Analysis

I <<<second>>> the nomination of <YouRang>

10. Most Informed

I <<<second>>> the nomination of <FSR>

14. Game of the Year

I <<<second>>> the nomination of <Nakamura vs Gelfand, 2013>

Jan-03-14  Blunderdome: 9. Best Game Collection

I nominate <Game Collection: Puzzle of the Day 2013> by <Phony Benoni>

He did the other years, too -- not to mention puzzles sorted by day of the week, an alphabetical pun index, and more -- but it's best collection, singular, so I think the above is appropriate.

  mistermac: Shams, it is quite simple, I think, or at least hope.

My fill ladle fear lawyer says that you can nominate up to three per category, second away to your fill, and subtlely praise your nominees/secondees without using a ladle.

As to whether the process is more complicated than it used to be, I have not the faintset idea, but if it is improving, I hate to think what it used to be like.

Good luck to all the winners, and better luck next time to the other particopants.

I predict few surprises. Whether Magnus will get up is problematic, but maybe after he keeps the title a copule of tomes, he may weel win it.

See you all next year.

Jan-03-14  Blunderdome: <Shams> I think it's not complicated enough! Nominations, seconds, and votes! We need objections, vetoes, mistrials...representatives, delegations, committees...sealed envelopes, secret backroom deals, alliances, black and white beads...parlays, insurance...
