offramp: Best Post: <Arihant> <Anand-Carlsen World Championship (2013)>

<Sep-21-13 Arihant: I have already said there is lot of unscrupulous, manipulative behind the scenes activities that goes with a Chess Worldchampionship. Fischer alleged , and it was subsequently found to be not unfounded that Russians conspired aginst him or tried to poison him.

Korchnoi /Karpov have alleged to bring Parapsychologists in the playing hall who would just keep on staring the opponent

In one interview , Kasparov have claimed to hypnotised Anand during their 1996 World Champion ship match

Toilet gate

In the recent candiates, Grishuck loss against Kramnik & Radjabov loss against Carlsen are not above the board.

So corruption is always there and one who does it subtly , he escapes.

Carlsen was invited for 20 simultaneous at Chennai against the children who were all participated in National tournaments and rank holders..

there is still scope of something underhand happening in Chennai which shall be unfair to the ethos of good chessmanship

World is not fair and was never meant to be, & so are Chess Championships and the winners.

<yes, there was Pillsbury !
Who during GM's tournament called masters of Germany chessmen and play simultaneously with them , give prizes to them & paid them to play against him.He was one who gave demonstration of his exceptional mind at an event where he palyed bridge, one person rendering difficult medical termnilogy, he only listening and blindfold at 100 boards simultaneously. In the end he shall repeat all the wors and was able to repeat all the moves of 97 boards & coming to 98 th one, he was saying sorry ladies & gentlemen , 31 move is K..err i am forgetting...and all the witnesses were gasping and chewing their fingers....>

where we are these days!>

A superb collection of gobbledygook, ending up with that great line <where we are these days!>! Totally memorable and certainly worth an award.

Yeah, that happens.
But maybe the CG Peace Prize could aspire to better things?

  Annie K.: <SoUnwiseTheKnight B4> no worries, it's very good coffee. ;)

BTW, I've now added your seconding of Carlsen vs Aronian, 2013 to the count, and also <suenteus po 147> for <Jess>.

<offramp> you nominated 4 for Best Avatar so far - Perfidious, HeMateMe, Richard Taylor, and Benzol....

Jan-04-14  MarkFinan: <john barleycorn: <Domdaniel: If the Nobels have a Peace Prize, shouldn't the Caissars do the same? Those who have assisted the cause of peace on the site deserve recognition.> Is not the <peace nobel prize> the one that is often awarded to the wrong guys?>

Great minds JB. Great minds.

The day either person associated in the 'peace' what's being referred to, gets some type of award for helping ONE man clear his ignore list, "apart from the 2 site weirdos" (his words!) is the day I... ... I'll think of something ridiculously absurd! Besides, to have peace then naturally there has to have been war and the closest I've come to seeing any "war" stopped is when Daniel closed his games for kibitzing.. So if anyone deserves such an award it's Daniel. Not some.. (sorry about this <Thefocus>, I don't dislike you but it has to be said.).. man who got all dramatic over something very petty between us, and thought "My enemies enemy is my friend", rang <the other guy>, plotted a little, before coming back to help AJ learn how to speak to nice people in a nice way till he cleared his jam packed ignore list ( that nobody but him cares about anyway ), and now he's asking by way of statement, followed by a question mark on the main forum for Pandora's box to be reopened!! Maybe I've just rode in on my high horse again and I aren't putting it well.. But it's still true what I've just said.

Oh yeah. In that case disregard my mention of Richard Taylor. I'm sure someone else will vote for him. But if no one does then it would have been a waste of time anyway.

offramp: No, but thanks for the great question! Hawkins has made big progress quite late in life. He's doing well at Hastings right now.

Good luck, Mark!

Jan-04-14  MarkFinan: Okay, and thank you kind sire.. But a suggestion for next year (Sorry Daniel and Annie. I'm gone after this) would be The most improved? Just a randomish thought, that's all.
