The Caissars: Thank you for participating in the 2019 Caissars! We apologize for the very delayed start, which probably contributed to the difficulty of selecting deserving candidates, and will do our best to run the Caissars at the beginning of January in the future. <And now here are ...

Jan-14-17  technical draw: "I believe you're also the all-time leader in most voters bribed with promises of $20;"

I don't do that gig anymore. My lawyer advised me it was too close to influence peddling. Or bike peddling, I can't remember which so I stopped. However, I can sell you the complete report for $20 if you like.

Jan-14-17  TheFocus: <Abdel Irada: Under the category <Best Username>, does it matter that <Aunt Jemima> is a sockpuppet?>

That is so petty to even ask.

1. <BEST AVATAR> goes to User: Phony Benoni for his "Beaker" muppet with 7 votes.

2. <BEST USERNAME> goes to User: DrStrangemove with 12 votes.

3. <MOST HELPFUL> goes to User: Penguincw with 8 votes.

4. <MOST CONSTRUCTIVE> goes to User: Annie K. by a landslide with 14 votes.

5. <FUNNIEST POSTER> goes to User: Phony Benoni with 13 votes.

6. <BEST POST> goes to Marshall vs Nimzowitsch, 1930 (kibitz #3) by <suenteus po 147> with 10 votes.

7. <BEST OFFTOPIC POST> goes to Kibitzer's Café (kibitz #192794) by <PawnSac> with 10 votes.

Now give us a little bit of time and we'll set up categories 8-14. As soon as they appear you can vote on them at the Caissars Voting Page.

SwitchingQuylthulg: Congratulations to the winners, and well done other top candidates!

With his two wins (so far) this year, <Phony Benoni> has matched <technical draw>'s lifetime total of 10 Caissars... and that's without counting Best/Worst Pun ("Mr. Georgiev, Wear Down this Tal!") or the Bistro Biographers' collective Best Historian award from 2012. Maybe it's time for TD to find a better lawyer :)

Jan-15-17  technical draw: <Phony Benoni> is a friend of mine and I congratulate him for winning funniest poster. Also for tying me for most Caissars at 10. I probably won't win anymore so next year we will have an overall new champion. Congrats <Phony Benoni>!

Penguincw: Wow, I'm honestly surprised to have won the Caissar for "Most Helpful" (2nd year in a row too).

I'd like to thank all of those who voted for me, and congratulate all my competitors, and the other Caissar winners. :)

Also an interesting point, as there were 4 awards given out in that the recipient did not get the most comments.

I actually like this new format better. Might be harder to only choose 1 user/post, but usually that's how real life works.

Thanks to everybody who voted for me, thanks to everybody who voted for all the other great candidates and winners, and congratulations wherever applicable! :D

Jan-15-17  rogge: I bet all 50 of you do :)
Jan-15-17  zanzibar: <AnnieK>'s cat whould be wearing a little golden crown!
Jan-15-17  mckmac: Hey there <Rogge>. I've been meaning to say Hello for ages. I remember sharing a joke with you, well, way back. Something to do with your Women's Handball team, Robbie Williams, and a knockout blonde bombshell. Ah, memories...

Trust all is well with you. We are hitting 30 degrees now as our Summer really starts to kick in. Happy days.

Jan-15-17  rogge: Hello <mckmac>, that's nice of you :) Yeah, I remember that conversation, it's been a while :)

Freezing cold in Norway (hardly a surprise), but summer is coming :)

All the best.

The Caissars: We've put up categories 8-14 a little early. Go ahead and test it out, if there are any problems I'll try to fix them today. Especially tricky is the "move of the year" category, you have to know the POTD syntax to make it work:

/perl/chessgames/?gid=_________&m=___

As usual, if you need help with URLs, just let us know here and either I or some other helpful person will assist.

Ha, funny because it's true.

OK then, the kitty should be adorned with a minature of Trump's golden mane instead.

HeMateMe: very efficient, smooth process. I might suggest that when a person logs on who hasn't voted yet a message could appear from CG regarding voting, to get the number up to several hundred votes, at least for some categories, like best game or best move.
Jan-16-17  technical draw: <SwitchingQuylthug> < Maybe it's time for TD to find a better lawyer >

I have a better lawyer. She's female and never loses. Her name is Hilary Clinton. So there!

I'm not sure if that's feasible, but if it is, I think it would be an excellent get-out-the-vote strategy.

It does feel like a bit of a letdown to find that only 53 members voted. :-/

SwitchingQuylthulg: The only time more people have voted was six years ago, when dozens of So fans voted <Iskubadayb> for Best Analyst in one of the most controversial Caissar votes ever.
