| Jan-04-12 | | Travis Bickle: Hey Mr Bunny don't get any wrong ideas that I'm trying to get your vote for 'Best Avatar', I just happened to remember you recently saying you really loved Doo Wop! best pun:'When the knight says Nh1'.
It is from the post below my previous post. |

 | | HeMateMe: I'm nominating <Sularus> for best avatar. |
|
Jan-04-12
 | | WannaBe: <benjinathan> I got one from <Shivasuri4>, and my reply was this: <That game, unfortunately was game of the day in January 2010 Nimzowitsch vs Rubinstein, 1926 hence, not eligible for 2011's Caissar.> Please make another nomination. |
|
| Jan-04-12 | | benjinathan: sorry <w> i did not see that. I have no nomination; I just wanted to make sure you saw that one. |

| Jan-04-12 | | Running Hand: Darn it. If User: domdaniel is a sockpuppet, then he's been wearing those socks for a *very* (oops) long time. I guess you could rotate the sock from one foot to the other. Or hand, as the case may be. I don't hold with nominations, but I'll be back to vote if there's a tie. Romney isn't paying enough anyhoo. |

 | | Domdaniel: <Ohio> 'Running Hand', my eye. The fellow's clearly a groper. I believe he's capable of anything, even the dreaded 'LOL' and the notorious groper's apostrophe. An Invisible Finger from the Invisible Hand may be required to see him off. |

| Jan-04-12 | | morfishine: Why not open it up to 2 nominations per person per award? <Ajile> would certainly be in the running for <Best Analysis>. If one were to look hard at his lines over the past 2-years, it would be hard to find any that have definitely been refuted. |

 | | Domdaniel: <morfishine> - <Why not open it up to 2 nominations per person per award? > It's not a *bad* idea, and one can often think of two people who deserve a nomination. But there would be complications. First of these, obviously, is all the extra work for <Wannabe>. Remember he volunteered to take over the running of Caissars when <Niklaas>, who originated them, retired. Wannabe has done it for about six years now, and it *is* a lot of work. It's hard to think of anyone else, willing and impartial, who could successfully take over. Second reason is that the 'shortlists' would get considerably longer. Then we'd have to have a heated debate about whether to shrink the Caissars to a one-round event, by combining the nomination and voting stages ... or to expand it to three stages, which would need a committee to run and which nobody would understand. "This week we are voting so that the *longlist* of 128 names can be reduced to a *shortlist* of six, which is 2 to the power of ... Okay, a shortlist of *eight* then ... as long as it works in binary ..." Under the current system, you don't need to nominate people who are already on the list. So a deserving person will always find somebody to nom them. Plus, of course, *votes* may be split during the later voting round. If you think there are two 'best' analysts on the shortlist, vote for both -- they get a half vote each. This is also more work for the Wabbit, but luckily he's dang good with fractions. Finally, if you *really* want to see somebody on the shortlist but are unwilling to change your vote, try a public appeal: "Will somebody *please* nominate X as crossest letter of the alphabet?", or whatever. It'd work. |

I believe we reneged on a promise made in 2011, to include a message about the Caissars in our Christmas Newsletter. We're going to make it up to you by giving you homepage coverage instead. This forum might positively explode soon, we'll see. |

| Jan-04-12 | | MyCatPlaysChess: On page one of the forum explosion... I think this is a really nice gesture from cg.com giving press to a member! I wish I had something useful for the voting. |
|
Jan-04-12
 | | OhioChessFan: Wow, what a nice looking link on the homepage. Far be it from me to suggest more work, but maybe a current list of nominees in your profile is in order for people new to the proceedings. |
|
Jan-04-12
 | | WannaBe: <MyCatPlaysChess> You are more than welcome to submit nominations. You can view the categories and scheduled voting in my profile. |
|
| Jan-04-12 | | Travis Bickle: Hey Bugs can I change a few of my nominations? |
|
Jan-04-12
 | | WannaBe: <Travis Bickle> It's difficult to change, but feel free to 'add more'.
Because your nomination may have over-lapped someone else's. You can decide later when you vote on who you really want. |
