chessgames.com: <Tabanus:> <<CG> Pages like this forum and the game collections are glaring to my eyes because 2/3 of the screen is pure white! Is it possible to make the unused part(s) black or darker?>

What you are asking for is a relatively modern web/app concept called "night mode." Yes it can be done, but as things are structured it's not a trivial change. When we have an far-overdue HTML overhaul we are going to remember this feature and make sure that a built-in night mode can be toggled.

chessgames.com: <zborris8: It's from Kmoch's Pawn Power in Chess about the "horizontal switch".> Thanks for the clarification. I have both books (Pawn Power in Chess, My System) on my bookshelf. I imagine the quote came from my flipping through Kmoch's book and typing in quotes I found interesting.

May-19-18  morfishine: I would like to propose a new annual recognition, the <suum nec fuerit inimicus> award, for a member of <CG> who is completely without malice

This award should be a treasured prize, eagerly sought after and aggressively pursued, yet civil means will always be observed

I propose the first winner to be <offramp>

I nominate <sally simpson> for next year's award

moronovich: <chessgames.com: These conflicts always reminded of an old joke: A woman calls the police and says "the local boys are swimming naked in the river right by my house." So an officer comes and tells them to swim downstream a quarter mile or so where there aren't any houses. The boys understand and comply. Later that day, she calls the police again. The officer says "But lady, they are far from your house, surely you can't see them anymore?" She replied, "I can when I use my telescope.">

My grandpa used to tell this little story.

Altibox starts next week. Looks like Wesley is doing a simul on Saturday, and Sunday will be rapid (to determine seeding and schedule?)

Can we have a page open?

  chessgames.com: Yes, page is forthcoming.

I do hope somebody preserves the scores for the So simul—those are always interesting but the games often get lost, as the participants rarely keep good scoresheets.

offramp: I have never noticed this at any other page...
I was at http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches... and every time I refreshed the page, in whatever way, the order of the games changed. Odd!

Tabanus: <offramp> The games sort by year, month and day, but most of the games there have year only. So that within each year, they sort at random. Same if there are several games on the same day, unless the sort order is fixed by an editor (TI events only).
May-23-18  morfishine: <offramp> I noticed that too when I used the 'back button' at a players page perusing their games. The order of the games changed making me think some games were duplicated. It took me awhile to figure it out

I never did figure it out! Thank you <Tabanus> for the info.

And thanks, Morf, for the kind words!

Tabanus: <unless the sort order is fixed by an editor> Editors can't fix the sorting by date, sorry. They can fix the sorting by number of points in a standings table.

<CG> Is there a strike among the employees?

May-24-18  N0B0DY: <N0B0DY> ask to check the <Chessgames Challenge TEAM GAME> for move adjustment before today's voting will close.
May-24-18  quickbookssupport: The game of chess is like a punch in in the mind. A player needs to be quick as well as patience for the game and also the player needs to be in a fresh mood and very calm. If any one want to have the skills of the game can connect Quickbooks support (https://quickbooksupports.co/)
May-24-18  RookHook: Is there a way for me to update missing data in the database? Like missing Elo for the players?
