jessicafischerqueen: Thanks <Nako> but there's a secret- if you copy and paste the original Spanish into the Google translator, you'll get a "raw text," which will be a very literal "word for word" version.

That was enough for me to figure out what <juan31> was saying. So then I re-wrote the Google Translate result into standard English idiom.

Mar-30-11  morfishine: <CG> When I 'search kbitz' chesstoplay, it doesn't pull up all of his kbitz, hence I can't always copy-link all of what I need. For example, his post on page 9 March 26 of the inner-team game does not come up. The date range is from March 22 then skips to March 27 (which is a repeat of the Mar 26 post at my request). Thanks for your help, Morfishine

Peligroso Patzer: Not a hugely big deal, but there is no standings table on the home page for this event: European Individual Championships (2010). It would be a nice addition if standings for at least the top dozen or so finishers could be provided.

SwitchingQuylthulg: <Peligroso Patzer> Chessgames does two types of standings table: automatic and none. Between those two, you can take your own pick: it's just a matter of changing the "crosstable=2" at the end of the link to "crosstable=1".

In this case, I strongly suspect our admins put crosstable=2 in the link on purpose since the standings would be messed up by all the tie-break games and just serve to confuse people.

To provide a good standings table, our admins would have to write a little program to weed out all the tie-break games... which would have both upsides and downsides. One obvious downside is that live kibitzing on tie-break games would now be on the wrong page. Another is that we as yet have no way to mark two tournaments (i.e. the main tournament and the tie-breaks) as closely related (though such a feature would be extremely useful!)

Apr-01-11  Benzol: <chessgames> I've uploaded most of the games from the 2000 Oceania Zonal Tournament bar three. These three games were played in the ninth ( and last ) round and as is common in international tournaments where places are already decided and the players are tired quick draws become the feature. I would like to see these games entered for the sake of completeness but if I entered them with the PGN facility they would probably be rejected. Could I therefore submit them here where the admins can onload them into the database. Hope this is OK. Thanks in advance.

Apr-01-11  YifanFan: Yifan is competing in the Chinese men's championship. Could you cover this tournament please, and the Chinese women's championship?
Apr-02-11  Lennonfan: CG.COM AND ADMINS....have you yet recieved the emails iv sent you,and other things you asked me to do rather than post on this forum itself?? Plz let me know either way,as im becoming frustrated with certain allegations by certain members and you doing nothing about serious allegations..,.thank you <benzol>...why are the games you posted from round 9 of the oceania zonal tourney of 2000 only from 6 to 10 moves long?? I genuinely dont understand buddy,im just learning about these tourneys,so i really fail to understand! I read that players are tired and quick draws become the norm but how is this allowed? This is chess! I really have been out of the loop for too long! This makes chess no longer fun or a game, but a ..,...chore??
Apr-02-11  Lennonfan: CG.COM....one more thing..,last wk i referred to a game i would like to be uploaded from TWIC if at all possible...(<notyetagm>posted the link in january for pgn download,..thanks <notyetagm> btw)i really dont know how to submit games from my phone to here, and once i get in front of a computer....mind goes blank! i probably could explain, but if you then didn't post the game up for download..:@lol) Well iv found the players and game in question...plz check the game out as i think its really educational for players around my estimated rating....and above and below and would make a really good game of the day.. The players were mathew rose(2276).
Eddie dearing(2412).

Lol.....sorry but i dont know how else to really post a link concerning a single game...although both players have 2 or 3 games in your database! And white, with a 136 rating gap really shows his opponent how to play....brilliant
Apr-02-11  DrNyet: As I understand it, the Kenneth Rogoff forum is designated by Chessgames for those who like political discussion. Are there other pages that one should be aware of to help one stay abreast of events?
Apr-02-11  hms123: <DrNyet> "Designated" might be too strong for the <Rogoff> page. "Tolerated" is perhaps more accurate.

Here are two others you might try:

Odd Lie

Louis F Stumpers

They won't keep you abreast of much, but they can be fun.

OhioChessFan: <Lennonfan> someone is going to have to be the first to stop. I have certainly noticed <AJ> has stopped. And not surprisingly, the shots at him have almost stopped. I find the posts you reference to be entirely out of place too. But you know that you've made improper comments. At some point, it's not okay to say "They started it." Someone has to be the first to stop.

Phony Benoni: I've always felt kind of responsible for the Rogoff page.

Back in September 2008, I noticed that Kenneth Rogoff would be appearing on the PBS newscast that evening as an economic analyst and posted a note to that effect on his page. It was in the middle of page two, which was as far as the kibitzing had gotten in over four years. And the majority of the posts were about chess, if you can believe it.

Within two weeks, the Rogoff page had doubled in size, then proceded to explode. I've often wondered what would have happened had I just kept my big fat mouth shut.

chancho: <Phony Benoni> Don't feel bad about it. I doubt Rogoff knows his player page is being used to discuss Politics, Religion, Science, Economics, the Horoscope, and even NCAA Basketball. And if he did, he'd probably be amused by the whole thing.
Apr-03-11  Lennonfan: <OCF>as much as i like u,and even though we dont agree on things regarding the bible and other things u stand for(though i really enjoy your debates)i will admit i respect u and ur opinions sir..however i dont side with the"popular clique"(and thats flattering some ppl!)and as long as u know what im saying now doesn't mean to offend you, then good,as i dont..please understand i have nothing at all against you .Your one of the guys on this site i do like and when u spk im interested in what u say.I love the bible/evolution debates,u always put up an interesting side to ur story..and though im unaware of your chess rating.(plz dont say!).i got more respect for you than any of these so called masters who'l shame themselves with homosexual insinuations and lies,but..im not above biting back, and for one reason only.'i wont take crap off anyone, let alone a few idiotic old men, who'd embarrass their grandkids with their language, and if the admins dont act then i will..iv tried stopping this but nobodys acted..YET!

Phony Benoni: There have been a lot of faulty scores appearing from 12th European Individual Championship (2011). One example is Y Zherebukh vs Hracek, 2011 which has an accurate score at Y Zherebukh vs Hracek, 2011. Can we assume a program is in place to erase the faulty scores?

By the way, I see you're sneaking in 8-digit Game ID #s on us. Is something big afoot?

Apr-04-11  Lennonfan: Cg.com staff and admins..i dont know where you are but if i were your mothers id be calling the police by now!! Anyway in your absense USER TECHNICAL DRAW has actually upset and threatened my relatives by taking a dispute from this site, then stalked out friends and family of mine.now i fully admit im the first for some banter, but when one of ur premium members takes things to this extreme something must be done..do you want the proof? The people this user mentioned by name on this site, are close friends of mine, checked this site and seen for themselves their names on this site posted by USER TECHNICAL DRAW,one post was about a young lady friend of mine who's got so spooked out she's emailed you herself, and one regarding a christian man, who'l also be emailing you, asking how this user was allowed to do this without you acting..im literally being stalked, and friends and familys name's posted! Will you act?I dont know the legal stance on this yet,and im a little shocked anyone from your chess site would do this
