| Feb-03-12 | | morfishine: I guess the reason someone like <Nemesistic> isn't removed is because they'll just come back as someone else. Perhaps the best solution is to make CG a 100% pay site. That would eliminate most of these goofs. Troublemakers don't like to spend their own money |

 | | tpstar: <chessgames.com> Your Chessgames Store is very nice, and also quite timely as I need to buy equipment for an upcoming junior tournament. Good luck with this endeavor. =) |

| Feb-03-12 | | Blunderdome: Two questions about premium memberships.
1. Can I upload my own avatar (family-friendly, and an image I own, of course) or do I have to choose from the gallery? 2. I think I recall someone being awarded a life membership for having a certain number of years of continuous membership. How many years is it? |

| Feb-03-12 | | NakoSonorense: <1. Can I upload my own avatar (family-friendly, and an image I own, of course) or do I have to choose from the gallery?> Yes, you can send them a 48x48 pixel picture and they'll upload it to the gallery. <2. I think I recall someone being awarded a life membership for having a certain number of years of continuous membership. How many years is it?> I'm not sure about this. What you can do is buy a life membership, but you have to deal with chessgames.com via e-mail for that. I believe it's over USD 100, but I could be wrong. |

 | | WannaBe: Nice store!! I'll have to spend some more time browsing what you have in there. =) <Blunderdome>
2. I don't think that exists, you have to purchase a lifetime membership, I believe it's around 300$ U.S. |

 | | Annie K.: Nice job on the store, <cg>. :) It would look even better if the page wrapped - to allow for smaller screens, low resolutions, browser sidebars, etc. |
|
| Feb-03-12 | | dakgootje: As per the premium FAQ:
<NOTE: A few extremely generous chess patrons have opted to buy a Lifetime Membership. A Lifetime Membership will give you complete access to all Chessgames.com features for the rest of your natural life. Regardless of what new features we add, or if we raise our rates, Lifetime Members never are charged anything additional. The fee for Lifetime Chessgames Membership is $US 350.> |

 | | WannaBe: 350$ is a great deal, in my opinion, 3 years at 75$ (If you choose to renew every 3 years, that is) would be 14 years. 350/75*3 = 14 From that point on, it's FREEEEEEEE! =) |
|
| Feb-03-12 | | dakgootje: I'd say it depends on your age whether the money-equivalent of only 14 years is a good deal ;) |

| Feb-03-12 | | bwarnock: <chessgames.com> - Hi - I submitted about 15 games two weeks or so ago (around Jan 20) - just wondering when/if they would normally be posted. Thanks

 | | Penguincw: Firstly, nice job with the store: http://store.chessgames.com/. Secondly, I submitted one game over a week ago. Do I have to upload it again (luckily, I have saved it on file)? |

 | | chessgames.com: <bwarnock> I see you have a number of games in the queue. We've not processed them because they all have a technical error which makes them illegal PGN. If we processed them they'd be rejected. The problem is that PGN has to end with a result: 1-0, or 0-1, or 1/2-1/2. Your PGN just ends with (say) "48.Bc3", leaving one to wonder if the PGN got truncated at that point. On the other hand, if it ends "48.Bc3 1/2-1/2" then we know for sure the game is complete. Another detail: please don't use "++" for checkmate, use "#". We will try to repair some of your submissions including the new one that you mentioned. |

 | | chessgames.com: <penguin> Regarding Etmans-Barendse, I hate to say that the PGN has some moves wrong. Move 42...Rf3+ is illegal since Black's only rook is on h8. Could it be that 39...Rf8 (and not 39...Rh8) was played? |

| Feb-04-12 | | twinlark: Hey ceegee!
You know how recent kibitzes link the pages they're on to the front page "recent kibitzing" or to the chessforum equivalent? Would you be able to link player pages with amendments that are made to player bios to the front page, perhaps flagging them with an asterisk or some other device to distinguish them from kibitzing additions? Bios are frequently ignored or overlooked as they are often untended and become obsolete etc and some people simply skip them as their is nothing to draw their attention. If kibitzers could see flags to bio changes that would not only attract kibitzers and hopefully constructive comments, but provide volunteer bio writers with more sense of recognition and feedback from other kibitzers and members. It also makes sense as player pages are about the players and their games. The games are readily accessible, and loaded by yourself into the database, frequently with assistance from members providing PGNs, but the actual details of a players career and achievements don't attract the same level of interest unless they're relevant. This would IMO complement the Biographers Bistro very nicely and constructively. |

 | | Stonehenge: I don't know if that's so easy to implement. Sometimes I only add a comma or so. Somehow the software should be able to distinguish between minor and significant amendments. |
|
Feb-04-12
 | | chessgames.com: <twinlark> We could report on that (it's already being tracked) but it wouldn't be home-page material. We've considered adding some links to various Bio-related tools on the The Biographer Bistro. We might find some way to solve the problem Stonehenge mentions. |
|
| Feb-04-12 | | bwarnock: <chessgames.com> Should I correct them and re-submit them? - that wouldn't be hard and would save you all the trouble of having to deal with it. BW |
