Apr-16-16  Lord Ramsbottom: Hullo Chaps! I'm sure that this Daniel fellow dreads turning on his computer each day. He probably crosses his fingers and crosses his toes and repeats the mantra "Please, nothing from Mark today, nothing from Mark today" and then turns it on.
Apr-16-16  MarkFinan: I don't know who you are but I love you! If I find out that you're someone on this site that I don't like I'll cry, lol. Keep popping in Ramsbottom, you're one of the funniest people on this site :)
Apr-16-16  MarkFinan: You're English, right?? Cmo'n give me a clue?
Apr-16-16  Lord Ramsbottom: In due time.
Apr-16-16  N0B0DY: likeS to C the psychopathS posting here.
Apr-16-16  MarkFinan: <Lord Ramsbottom: In due time>

You've been here a few years now Lord. It's about time you revealed who you are because I <need> to know, the time has come? I can't sleep at night trying to figure out who you are, lol.

This is the gods honest truth. I was sane before I joined chessgames dot com! ;)

CG seems to have a bad case of the Yips in the US Women CC.

Apr-16-16  MarkFinan: <chessgames.com: <MarkFinan: You can change my username Daniel, right?> Feel free to resume this conversation via email.>

I've tried!

<It was your decision to use what I presume is your real name, you used it for years and years in full knowledge and expectation that it would be archived>

I <never> used my name in "expectation" and definitely not <FULL KNOWLEDGE> it would be "archived!". That's just a lie and you know it, and you own this site. If I contacted twitter, facebook, YouTube, instagram, chess24, etc etc etc and told them what had been going on they'd <never> give me a reply like that! Twitter have been sympathetic, do you want me to send you the emails from them? Do you want me to <prove> that unless I'm in a newspaper, a magazine, for a criminal offence I can have my name removed before the "internet archives" if I don't want it there?

Earth to Daniel/Chessgames dot com.

I'm not trying to start any trouble I just want some peace of mind. And if you'd been through what I've had to endure the last few years <because of> a member of <this site> then you'd understand. Ask me for proof and I'll send you it? Everything's been quiet for a few days and I really appreciate that my stalker has either got bored, or scared, or both. As long as he's not bothering me I really don't care. I just want my real name erased from this site so it doesn't happen again with some other headcase. You asked me to email you, I did and you haven't replied. You have my solicitors number and email so call her too, let's just get this sorted once and for all. I don't think you realize how much this has affected my <real life>. I'm seriously not trying to start any more trouble with Keyser Soze, I could care less what he says on here but will you PLEASE respond to my email or I'll just post your emails about certain members of this site in my forum.

2 different posts from a certain person only roughly 6 months apart (don't quote me on that <exactly> because I never checked the dates but I will if you want?)

<Funny thing , I <<never>> <<ever>> had a twitter account (I can't stand twitter)>.

<Man up talk to me on face skype, <<twitter>> right now, since you "know me". <I'm online..>>>

I wish Keyser Soze all the best in life because he needs it, but I just want to sleep easy knowing I'm not going to be woken because of this person. Yes yes I've been involved in these so called "flame wars" in the past but when I emailed you last September/October about phasing out my username and starting another username you said "I've had no trouble from you for a long time Mark and thanks for the heads up" when I was asking the <same thing> I'm asking you right now. What's changed? Serious question, what has changed? If someone hadn't been kind enough to buy me that premium membership you know I was planning on erasing my real name anyway, recent events have just escualted things.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable or funny with you. Can you please respond.

Kind regards, Lennonfan.

US Chess Championships (2016)

Apr-17-16  Pyke: Why is there no live broadcast on the US Championship?

Although it is "only" a national Championship, the US one is one my favorites.

Somehow the mix of players is always right, lot's of decissive games.

The coverage at Saint Louis is sublime, but I do want my chessgames.com fix.

Apr-17-16  Pyke: While we're at it: How much work is it to set up a Live Game Broadcast?!

I'd like to know, as I often wondered how a day of a chessgames.com employee looked like.

Hope I am not imposing.

Apr-17-16  sonia91: Thanks <cg.com>

On April 20, the Batumi stage of the Women's FIDE Grand Prix will start.

Apr-18-16  MarkFinan: Something's definitely not right here lately. After all the premium members were complaining about that kid who just popped in to tell everyone about something that happened to our mothers once upon a time (btw <no such user on record!>) Daniel kinda promised to be more vigilant. Ever since he's vanished like Lord Lucan. I can just tell something's wrong.

chessgames.com: About the US Championship: we are very excited about it but decided not to show it live because of the overlap with Norway.

<Pyke: While we're at it: How much work is it to set up a Live Game Broadcast?!>

Setting it up is not so hard (but it requires a little training as there are a hundred mistakes that can be made.) The hard part comes when the tournament starts. We have software to extract the moves from some types of sites, but when chess24 does the coverage we have no better technology than paying somebody to watch one computer terminal and type the move on another. Kevin (Kev chessforum) usually takes care of that with me covering for him if he has to leave his station.

<I'd like to know, as I often wondered how a day of a chessgames.com employee looked like. Hope I am not imposing.> Well besides myself (Daniel) there are only a few employees. Maybe that would make for a nice "meet Chessgames" type article.

I'd talk more but I have to set up Norway Chess. We're 90% sure there will be a broadcast game today. I think we're going to keep this one to premium members.

By the way, I've always wondered: Do premium members LIKE it when we make games available for premium members only, or do they prefer when we open it to the world? I no longer see live game coverage as a feature that people pay for per se, but if our customers enjoy the privacy then we are happy to provide it. We've been giving a lot of "free" broadcasts lately just because there haven't been any big problems (trolls etc.) and I assume that's what customers like.

tpstar: <Live Events> Both are enjoyable - the Premium Member only ones and the free-for-alls. Games with only Premium Members tend to have more analytical comments and direct interactions, as the group knows each other, while the wide open events feature more one liners from newcomers.

Speaking for the old furniture, there is a distinct sense that recent Live Events were on auto-pilot, with some examples of the wrong game or reversed colors, along with no responses to questions in real time, plus the game was left up for comments hours later.

The only folks unwelcome at live broadcasts are criminals!

OhioChessFan: <Live Events> either way. The open ones I sometimes wish there was a hall monitor, but no matter. As for your business model, I think at least some of them should be for premies only, just to occasionally remind people that money makes the world go round.

offramp: <Chessgames.com: I've always wondered: Do premium members LIKE it when we make games available for premium members only, or do they prefer when we open it to the world?>

I don't mind either way. I wish you could do more live events.

Apr-19-16  Pyke: Hi <Chessgames>,

thank you Daniel for the reply and for setting up the NorwayChess live game.

The idea for the "meet chessgames" article sounds nice.

As for your question: I do not mind if they're free for all. And to be completely honest, keeping them restricted to paying members seems odd to me, because a lot of other sites offer free live coverage, too. Sometimes even with excellent commentary. (see US Championship coverage for example)

There are many other features for Premium members that make chessgames.com a unique site, worth paying for.

Apr-19-16  MarkFinan: <Maybe that would make for a nice "meet Chessgames" type article.> I've got a few emails, letters and screenshots that I'd like to contribute to this. You'll probably have to change the title of the article though.
Apr-19-16  MarkFinan: Okay. I've got your email, I replied. Let's do this :)
