Don't forget you guys when we were almost killed by that DDOS attack it was <Sargon> who saved us. <Sargon> went way above the call of duty on this one. Way above what you could possibly imagine. Here is scientific proof: ################

And then the love poured in:
chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #31968) <JimNorCal:> Sargon fixed my connection problem in the early morning hours, thanks! ===
chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #31969) <Susan Freeman:> Great job, <Sargon>. It seems neither one of us requires sleep anymore. ===================
chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #31970) <offramp:> Sargon watched my disk defragment from 03:05Hrs to 05:59Hrs, thanks! ===
chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #31971) <Willber G:> Sargon rebuilt my computer, cooked me dinner and serviced my wife so I could watch football. Good effort, but the steak was a bit tough. ===================
chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #31972) <jessicafischerqueen:>
Sargon pimped my ride and made a home video of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xT... ===========
And there were still more testimonials on this thread. None anywhere near as good as this one though: <"Sargon... serviced my wife so I could watch football"> ==========

 | | Richard Taylor: What is a dDOS attack, sounds scary! I have a "new" computer so I hope it isn't sending anything bad on the internet..... "Annie" was on here for a long time, I think longer than I. I hope every thing is going well for all in the US all things taken into account. My regards to J Fischer Queen and others. |

 | | Richard Taylor: By the way, re Steinitz, a SERIOUS mistake has been made, as is well known, and can be shown, there were in fact TWO Steinitz's. This is important for cg.com as it affects everything in the world including, well, everything....I thought I should bring this to peoples' and cg.com's attention. Only a few of us "in the know" know this little known but real, and vitally important fact. There were also several Botvinniks but I wont go into that for now, except to say that for World Chess Champs to have two of themselves is a jolly nuisance and a bother, in fact it is a pother indeed. But such is life....All the best, RT |

<Richard Taylor> DDOS attack is a "denial of service attack" in which somebody uses a bot army of sock puppet accounts to access a given website, until the server is overloaded and the website crashes. To ensure that your new computer has not become a "slave computer," go to your settings and make sure the toggle switch for <allow remote access> is turned off. Also, make sure the switch for <allow people to see me through my internal camera as I "do things" while watching the internet> is turned off. I use a desk top which has no secret camera inside of it. I never use a lap top, "just in case..." |

| Nov-30-20 | | thegoodanarchist: By the way, everyone, ALL US Chess fans should be proud of Wesley So today! He won the Skilling Open in a dramatic and VERY hard fought final against world champ Magnus Carlsen. Is Wesley finally stepping up to where he belongs, in the top 5? Could be! Stay tuned! |

Just had a look.
I cant find the "allow people" etc but I don't think I do allow so to speak. See how it goes. |

<Susan Freeman> There is a serious problem that I think needs to be addressed much sooner than later. Whoever has been tasked with maintaining the live chess events and archiving them on the front page is either not doing the job, does not know how to do it, or you have not hired anyone to do it. The titanic news - the chess news of the decade perhaps is that <Wes So> has defeated <Magnus Carlsen> in a serious chess tournament. We do not even have those <So v Carlsen> games in our database, let alone listed on the tournament index page we have for that event: Skilling Open (2020) I would characterize this as a three alarm fire. I counsel strong action, even if this includes firing someone and hiring another person who has the time, or the know-how and diligence to perform this important duty properly. The duty is to list upcoming major tournaments on the front page, broadcast them live (or at least upload all the games on the same day), and then add the tournament results to the notice after the tournament is over. This has not been done for the last three live events on the front page. Right now, it is clear that you do not have anyone taking care of this particular task. If you do, they are not doing the job. Only you can solve this problem, and it really needs solving. |

"Counsel Strong Action" (emphasis mine), "Whoever has been tasked with....", "or the know-how diligence to perform this important duty properly." Dang, I surely don't want to cross-examine this one. (Okay, I got to stop reading Michael Connelly and his books, especially Mickey Haller; but they are sooooooooo good.) The Laws of Innocence is super, A+ |
