The only privileged users at cg.com are those who have a premium membership. You get all kinds of privileges then, though being an administrator is not one of them. Here are premium membership privlieges:

Unrelated to premium membership, there are a number of volunteer editors who help write biographies and have limited ability to correct mistakes on game pages, such as the site, date, and round fields. If someone is interested in becoming a volunteer editor, this is a good place to make your case: Biographer Bistro . Ultimately, to become a volunteer editor you would need to email a request to the site owners. Recently, a few volunteer editors have requested, and received, enhanced tools to help correct errors and expedite game uploads. Thanks to the hard work done by <Administrator> Stephen, some of the volunteers can now process uploads, correct duplicate games, player names, game scores, and yes create Tournament Pages as you mentioned. In the case of your example, an admin may have created that new Tournament page, but one of the volunteers may have done so. I am sorry I cannot give you a comprehensive list of what we can do, since each of us has different interests. For example, I enjoy reviewing and processing new game uploads, so I spend a lot of time on that. But I wouldn't be creating any new Tournament Pages, so I don't know who did that. Is there something that you would like us to do? Possibly we can help. |

<Caissianist> I should mention something else: I believe that <Tabanus> would be much more informed about the topic of <Tournament Entries> - but I think there is a difference between some of the Tournament pages. One kind, the volunteer editors can make without direct help from the admins: Let's say any member, premium or non-premium, made a games collection of a historical tournament or match. That member could post the game collection in the Biographer Bistro and request that it be nominated to go into the Tournament Index . Any volunteer editor may nominate any collection. Once nominated, then 5 volunteer editors must vote "Aye" on the game collection voting page in order for the collection to be promoted to the Tournament Index. But in the case of current tournaments and tournaments played recently, I believe those are handled somewhat differently. As mentioned, I believe <Tabanus> could explain how. <Stephen the Administrator> could also explain, I suspect. You can contact <Stephen> here in his forum: stevemcd87 chessforum |

I'm actually a volunteer editor myself but only for the bio and game settings stuff, good to know what you and the other <power volunteers> are doing! If tournament pages and game uploads are being done by PVs that's fine with me, just glad to see it getting done. |

 | | Tabanus: <Caissanist> The Tata Steel page was created by an admin. I then added a crap intro (with a minimum of info) to the edit field at bottom of the page. I can add and edit intros to the events in the Tournament Index (TI). For the events <not> in TI, like for example Corsica Masters (2012), the admins have often added an edit field for me so that I could make an intro. In the example above they didn't, so I added the games one by one and created the Game Collection: Corsica Masters 2012. Then I nominated this collection at Game Collection Voting for inclusion in TI. Unfortunately, of the million chess players in the US (and elsewhere) there are only <two> doing this. And these two are subject to only a handful of voters. One of which is <jess> - the majority of editors choose to ignore us completely or engage in politics instead. Most CG editors are "butterfly editors" who adds a comma here, uploads a game there, and then jumps on to the next game or player. |

If the site no longer makes enough money to make that worth anyone's while then hopefully the owners will find someone to sell to. |

I know that there is a massive project ongoing in the background, to make CG better. The first milestone (it has the internal title <[JIRA-00001] Make the site actually work>) is set to August 2057, so, given that the members who are always complaining will force just a tiny patience on themselves, everything's gonna be settled and alright. |
