She claims that she now suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the things she has seen online.

The case is likely to shine a light on the murky world of content moderation and raise questions about whether people should be doing this kind of work in the first place.

Seems somehow apropos.

Oct-14-18  thegoodanarchist: <Susan Freeman: Zanzibar. I am surprised. That is not like the Zanzibar I know>

That is EXACTLY the <Zanzibar> that many people on this site know all too well.

Oct-14-18  thegoodanarchist: <Dr Winston OBoogie:

Out of the blue yesterday he accused me of molesting a child.>

So <sugardom> said that out of the blue?

Well, a few days ago, out of the blue, you called me an <insane racist>.

So it seems you are getting back what you put in.

chessgames.com: <OhioChessFan: <zanzibar: If you don't read <Rogoff> you may have missed this foreshadowing of major upcoming policy changes on <CG>, including delegated moderators:> <Count: Wow. Thanks <chessgames> for carrying on Daniel Freeman's legacy in such a respectful manner, true to his intentions and philosophy.

This surely was Daniel's vision for this site: a goup of <CG> stormtroopers to crack down on unwanted behaviour.

Wow. Just wow.>

What he said.>

LOL. In perusing the individual posting records of some of the most vocal hand-wringers on this subject, we are encountering <lengthy> lists of posts that were deleted—deleted, of course, by that late icon of permissivenes—and my beloved friend—Daniel Freeman.

So spare us the "righteous" indignation—and cry us a river.

We'll strive to do our level best and faithfully emulate Dan's "permissive" moderation philosophy—as we review the <hundreds> of inappropriate postings which <Dan deleted> from the various models of virtue who are <grousing> about the earth-shatteringly radical changes being made to this community's moderation policies and posting guidelines.

Oct-14-18  thegoodanarchist: <Susan Freeman: The balderdash!>

I don't do "balderdash". I am the most honest poster on cg.com. Perhaps the most honest on the internet.

Here is the link to what <DWOB> wrote:

Kenneth S Rogoff (kibitz #351165)

Here is the quote:

< Dr Winston OBoogie: < Count Wedgemore: <bobsterman: <TGA> glad to see you back.> Seconded. He is one of the best posters on <CG>.>

You just broke my heart, Wedgie! You're either a BP clone or delusional, y'all know Bob and <thebadalcaholic> are insane racists with a Donald Trump fetish, right? >

An excellent, perceptive, thoughtful, insightful, incisive, intelligent, wise, observant comment.

I notice that it really bothers you when the truth about the English convict comes out.

You need to learn to deal with it, though, if you are going to continue to enable him. Not everyone is willing to take orders from you.

Too bad this conversation isn't in your forum, where you can delete the truth to protect convicts.

Oct-14-18  rogge: Diceman's ridiculous post disappeared :)

Dare I point out the obvious, and remind you that the worst offenders of the rules here have always been the most zealous to blow the whistle on other people? Just saying. If you want to know who I mean, just look at who's been calling for everyone and his brother to be banned since Daniel died.

<So spare us the "righteous" indignation—and cry us a river.>

Anyone ever tell you that you have some serious socialization issues?

Oct-14-18  Robed.Bishop: The site doesn’t lack from “righteous indignation” and likely never has. Irony in action, usually.
Oct-15-18  Nisjesram: <tpstar> <Recent developments indicate things may be better and not worse, so we should give [admins] more time to figure things out>

This is <tpstar> in <ohiochessfan> forum. I appreciate this post of <tpstar> . It is productive.

We all want harmonious , civil conversations on this website. If that is what we want , how can that be had if we insult/defy/challenge admins , if we take aggressive tone with them and if we don't show respect to them!

We want to be respected , we have to give respect too.

I hope we will all listen to what <tpstar> saying in this post.

Thank you.

.

Oct-15-18  Count Wedgemore: <chessganes.com> Why did you attack <OhioChessFan> in his forum with this post: OhioChessFan chessforum (kibitz #18538)

If you are going to harass a respected long time contributor to this site, then you better have a good reason, and you don't.

What got you so bent out of shape in the first place, was probably the post I wrote here on the member page, that you seem to have deleted. All <OCF> did was quoting that post here: chessgames.com chessforum (kibitz #31138)

So why don't you leave <OCF> out of it, and have a go at me instead? And for the record, I stand by what I wrote, 100%.

Oct-15-18  Nisjesram: <<count wedgemore><i have noticed, however, that so far, the only users to have been suspended, threatened with suspension, or received criticism by the current <CG> admins, all seem to belong on roughly the same side of the political spectrum>. Not true.

1)<zanzibar> received criticism , a mild rebuke from admin and he accepted with humility.

2)i recieved criticism , a mild rebuke and i accepted politiely and with humility.

3)on the other hand there are some - a very few indeed - who are acting in defiant, belligerent , aggressive way with admins. What is the rationale behind that , i fail to grasp. How can we have any 'legitimate'/purposeful conversation in this manner ? A tragedy happened (a sudden , untimely death) and instead of supporting admins , if members make their job even more complicated , how is it going to work?

.>

1)You did not respond to this post of mine <count wedgemore>.

2)even <tpstar> , who is a close 'friend' of <ohiochessfan> , is urging to stay calm and give admins time to get more and more control of the things.

3)do you not agree with <tpstar> ? Should we not try to deescalate instead of trying to be confrontational?

Thank you.

.

Oct-15-18  Count Wedgemore: <Nisjesram> I did respond, on the Rogoff page.

People need to pay attention to this.

It's hard to believe anybody could have done this impossible task better than <Daniel>, and it's quite a good sign, and very commendable, that <chessgames.com> is reviewing his past practices.
