Inside or outside, i.e. the Hack?

Kinda amazing how long the problem was lurking, and how quickly it seemed to ultimately be fixed.

MissScarlett: <Miss Susan>, I'm not prepared to enter into a geographical guessing game. I propose you 'tip us the wink' (give a cryptic sign decipherable by, at least, the elite posters amongst us). #hushhush #knowthyenemy

  Susan Freeman: <Miss>
I have the IP. Nobody we know. Dubai.
We can rule out the following:
1 Mark Finan
2 Sargon
3 Elon Musk
4 Harry Lime
5 chairman Powell
6 Fred the Bear
7 Annie
8 Eric
9 He Mate Me
10 Cormier.
And many more.
Jun-20-22  George Wallace: <Susan Freeman: <Miss> I have the IP. Nobody we know. Dubai.>

Not so fast.

Hackers use proxies to hide their real IP. They can appear to be coming from anywhere. Just login to the TOR browser and you'll see that <your> IP address (if you login to CG) will look like it's coming from somewhere else.

Susan Freeman: CG is going to use cloudfare to block the bots.
Jun-20-22  George Wallace: <Susan Freeman: CG is going to use Cloudflare to block the bots.> Cloudflare can help, but I know of a few websites (of associates of mine) that were hacked even on Cloudflare.

The site probably needs to be hardened against XSS and SQL injection attacks. Oftentimes these attacks are conducted on forms (where you must submit information) whose software is in need of an update.

Susan Freeman: <George> Thank you for the tip. I just remembered a time when Sargon was sending out 1,000s of brute force attacks, and CG was facing penalties. Just one of my fond memories

<MissScarlett> Cloudfare aren't "based" anywhere because they are a cloud eh?

I'm surprised you didn't know that, given that MissScarlett is an AI program also not based anywhere.

Jun-21-22  Messiah: Dubai IPs are terrible.

Chessical: For some reason the Olga viewer stops after 17.Rd8 and ignores the remaining moves.

Prins vs J H Donner, 1951

I have imported the score into another reader and it reads correctly.

The problem is that the PGN shows <17.Rxd8+ Rd8>, but it should be <17.Rxd8+ Rxd8>. I am reporting it.

Jun-21-22  Z free or die: <RE: Game Collection links>

Submitted for consideration:

Consider a link to any game collection, e.g.:

Game Collection: Game of the Day & Puzzle of the Day Collections https://www.chessgames.com/perl/chesscollect- ion?cid=1036767

<CG>'s automagic puts the user's title for the collection, but doesn't give any indication who the user is.

* * * Would it be possible for <CG> to add the user name as well? * * *

I think it might be useful to know whose collection the collection is from. E.g.

<Game Collection: Game of the Day & Puzzle of the Day Collections (Phony Benoni)>

A little more verbose, sure, but also more informative.
