|
Jul-18-22 | | stone free or die: <Open Defence> - I think your idea is worthy of consideration. <CG> certainly has the flexibility, and the coding should be unchallenging. But it does have the drawback that users would no longer see snippets such as this: <Jul-18-2022 <bippy> !! HOMO ALERT !! <Ukraine to consider legalising same-sex marriage amid war> ...> in the <Recent Kibbitzing> list. Of course <bippy> is vainglorious about even such a little piece of vandalism on important <CG> pages that he's loath to suppress it, even for the disinterested. |

Jul-19-22 | | stone free or die: As for Staunton, just throw him a Deathday Party. Good enough for Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington, good enough for old Howard. |

<zee> heh I see you've been on a pun spree recently... a welcome activity... Interestingly, I once considered marrying in to the <Mimsy-Porpington> fortune, but the family easily identified me as a gold digger and set me to work in the mines. doh! |

Jul-20-22 | | thegoodanarchist: Magnus gave up the title!!!
It will be Nepo v. Ding. |
|
Jul-20-22 | | thegoodanarchist: If only Naka had held the draw against Ding, and finished 2nd... During the game I couldn't understand why he didn't trade a pair of rooks at the first opportunity. I think "Sauron" would have been motivated to keep Naka from getting the title. |
|
Jul-20-22 | | Cassandro: <tga> It is possible. Carlsen has good friendly relations with both Nepomniachtchi and Ding Liren, especially with Nepo but with Ding as well. Nakamura..ehh, not so much. |

Jul-20-22 | | stone free or die: Ha <JFQ>... the <CG> mines, I'm sure. RE: Staunton, ok if not his deathday, then perhaps the first day <CG> uploaded one of his games? Or - the date of his first chess column in a paper? Or the start date of his 1851 tournament? etc. etc. |

 | | kingscrusher: Hi Guys
As of 21st July 2022, my 3 top improvements for this website would be: 1) Show an option for not being biased by transpositions in the opening explorer E.g. 1.Nc3 e5 2.e4 is not optimal. 2.Nf3 with the idea of a quick d4 is, and most Dunst experts play 2.Nf3 here - not 2.e4. I have written a blog about this here: https://lichess.org/@/Kingscrusher-... Chesstempo apparently have the option of going with the specific move order - as mentioned in: https://www.reddit.com/r/chess/comm... 2) Show number of collections of each game in main index or collections of games. This shows generally the more interesting games. The most iconic games for example like the Opera game have been in many member's collections. But other games of interest maybe should have their collection value highlighted as a guide. 3) Ability to search by games ending in a checkmate sequence. An engine can check the end position of a game to see if it is either checkmate or a checkmate in X is happening. Chessbase have this - on "search for mates". This would be a fun way to find checkmate puzzles. Hope this is interesting feedback for future projects. Cheers, Tryfon |

 | | kingscrusher: I want to also add this site has been one of my absolute favourite sites for years and years. I totally love this site and its vibes. My feedback is meant in a positive constructive way. For a "growth mindset" it is important to not say something is brilliant - but instead to reward time and effort. Already the site is great, but I feel these three things would add to an already brilliant site. Cheers, Tryfon |

Jul-21-22 | | Messiah: Complaint #30, 2022-07-21: The user interface is outdated. |
|
Jul-21-22 | | stone free or die: <kingcrusher> - side note: Looking at your blog post I had my first encounter with <Lichess' Opening Explorer>. I see that the scoring bars of the subvariations show only the White/Black scoring differentials - not showing the draw content (unlike <CG>, <SCID>, etc.). Don't you think Lichess should do the three scoring breakdown on the bargraphs? . |
