 | | MissScarlett: <Miss Susan>, I noticed some griping about the number of ads showing for non-premium members. Has the frequency thereof increased? |
|
Feb-27-23
 | | petemcd85: <echnical draw: I've just received a notice that my premium membership will expire in a month. However I am paid up until March 2024> It shows your a premium till 2024. I'll look into why your getting the notice |

 | | petemcd85: <stone free or die: Question for admins-> Hey <Z>, not sure why you got this error message. <steve> said he will be looking into it. I apologize for the inconveniences and delayed response. |

 | | MissScarlett: The Vidit - Carlsen game (his first win over Magnus) has been standing in the submission queue for a couple of days. I'm wondering if the entire ProChess event should be uploaded. It's one of those sprawling online tournaments of dubious seriousness, but we've been here before: Pro Chess League (2018) |

Feb-28-23 | | stone free or die: <<pete> Hey <Z>, not sure why you got this error message. <steve> said he will be looking into it. I apologize for the inconveniences and delayed response.> Thanks <pete>. Sorry to trouble you, I just wanted to be sure no 3rd party was hijacking the traffic, mostly. |

 | | stevemcd87: <z> We do not use https://sucuri.net/
Have you been seeing the "502 HTML error message" error often?
If so, can you provide additional details on the steps you took to receive the error so we can try to try to recreate the error.
Thanks |
|
Feb-28-23 | | Messiah: It seems <chrisowen> encounters the HTTP status code 808: Eliskases vs J Emma, 1958 |
|
Feb-28-23 | | stone free or die: Thanks <stevemcd87>. Maybe my ISP is using the service? I was, iirc, just doing an advanced search. This has only happened to me once. The error popup was pretty generic, here's the details: <
Error Code: HTTP 502
Error Message: Backend or gateway connection timeout.
Server ID: 14009
>
Any suggestions for additional actions (via browser tools, etc.) if this were to happen again? No worries if we leave it here though, unless I get hit again. Thanks.

Mar-01-23 | | stone free or die: Given its importance, and relative proximity, could <CG> put up a tournament page for the upcoming <World Chess Champion (2023)>? I don't think it's too early, being only a month away. |
|
Mar-01-23 | | Messiah: Good idea. |

Mar-02-23 | | stone free or die: Hiya <pete>, and many thanks. I see we're "off" and running - ha!
But could I please ask one more slight favor - that you add the names of the two players involved into the description (maybe with links to the player pages). It strikes me as a bit hollow without the personalities involved. . |

 | | MissScarlett: Is <Miss Susan> off on another jolly? |
|
Mar-03-23 | | stone free or die: Special request -
The ignore-list is touted as a sort of "cure-all", but it has a somewhat obvious flaw, to wit: When viewing one's <Profile> for follow-up posts <CG> uses a star to mark threads where someone has posted after your last post, no matter who. Really, there shouldn't be such notice if the only subsequent post is from someone on your ignore-list. This wouldn't be too hard a programming update to implement I'm pretty sure. But what does <CG> think? . |

 | | petemcd85: I apologize for the delayed response, we've been without power due to fires here in Naples. <MissScarlett: Is <Miss Susan> off on another jolly?> She'll be back soon.
<stone free or die: When viewing one's <Profile> for follow-up posts <CG> uses a star to mark threads where someone has posted after your last post, no matter who.> I'll look into it, shouldn't be to difficult to implement |

 | | MissScarlett: <She'll be back soon.> 40 days in the desert? Sounds tempting. Maybe I'll join her. |
|
Mar-04-23 | | stone free or die: <<Missy> Maybe I'll join her.> Oh, be still, my bleating heart. |
|
Mar-04-23 | | stone free or die: Oh, and thanks again <pete>. |

 | | MissScarlett: Experiencing more than a few issues dealing with game submissions and corrections. Really need a facility allowing editors to DM members so as to seek clarification, request info or explain reasons for rejection. |
|
Mar-06-23 | | stone free or die: < Really need a facility allowing editors to DM members so as to seek clarification, request info or explain reasons for rejection.> Isn't this what the Bistro is for? Or perhaps the personal forum. Just leave it to me. |

Nepomniachtchi - Ding World Championship Match (2023) This Event title seems a little off to me, and not just because of the prediction of Nepo winning! (The link looks fine here - but go to the event page) |

Mar-06-23 | | stone free or die: Sorry, not the event page. The kibitzing list:

 | | MissScarlett: <What kind of issues are you having? Please be specific so that i can maybe recreate the problem.> The issues are with the submissions themselves, not the site. |
|
Mar-06-23 | | stone free or die: The entire submission process should be revamped, and I think made more transparent to review. E.g. the submissions issues. |

 | | fredthebear: It's NOT A GOOD IDEA to implement changes based upon one person's request. That one person is often MANIPULATING THE SYSTEM to their own advantage. If it aint broke, don't fix it. Fix what NEEDS fixin'. |
