FSR: Of course <Miss Scarlett>, still bitter after 247 years, refuses to post an appropriate pun for the occasion, such as <Fourth of July Fireworks> for T Rahman vs Shankland, 2013, or <Born on the Fourth of July> for A Kapengut vs Antoshin, 1965.

MissScarlett: Here's one I prepared earlier: Burn vs Chigorin, 1898

Maybe next year. Give me a little notice.

MissScarlett: Traitorous British colonists claiming independence spent the next hundred years stealing every British invention. Pity we never invented a machine for picking cotton.

Check It Out: <MissScarlett: stealing every British invention.>

You just said that over the internet from you personal computer or cell phone. Probably using some emails to verify things with CG, a website.

All American inventions, you little thief.

MissScarlett: I nominate User: fredthebear as a volunteer editor/gatekeeper. With great power comes great responsibility.

perfidious: One would hope that, if this proposal were to come to fruition, that the kibitzer named therein would demonstrate a sense of fair play.

I am not at all optimistic.

MissScarlett: <With great power comes great responsibility" is an adage popularized by Spider-Man in Marvel comics, films..> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/With_...

I was anticipating Cicero or Marcus Aurelius.

fredthebear: Ah, but I already have great power. Cicero was a great writer with influential ideals (even size 12 font is named after him), but who would want to suffer such a fate?

fredthebear: On the other paw, I do have a strong spine to serve as a monitor. I would address needless offenses like this:

<perfidious: <Rdb....Has he also given up hurling abuses?> In general, <fredthecuck> does not post here; has to do with a certain five-letter word, begins with 'p'.> and

< perfidious: <chancho....And the chump has the nerve to accuse others of lying...

Dicey, a lying scumbag.>

Same as his comrade in arms <fredthewanker>. etc. etc.

< perfidious: The tag team of the <boy from brazil> and <every man's woman> continue to maunder on and on about being 'butthurt'. They should take their vaudeville act of <dumbass and dumbasser> to the road.>

<perfidious: Airhead of the Rockies <bimboebert> plays her favourite role as half of the tag team <Dumbass and Dumbasser>:

<United States Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) and conservative commentator Dave Rubin called for> ...

etc. etc. Oh, wait - there's more (chuckle)...

<perfidious: <fredthebore> playing dumbass to <gazafan>'s dumbasser.

perfidious: Blackburn has been hard at it, playing <dumbasser> to the late <pinnedpuke>'s dumbass.

<perfidious: <ohiyuk....<180,000,000 Eurocucks faint.>> Playing <dumbasser> to the <dumbass> of <blundering pontificator>, are you?>

Removing this sort of standard repeating filth is a no-brainer. It doesn't matter who said it. It simply does not belong and should be deleted instantly.

fredthebear: Did you think that was all? Of course not! It NEVER ends.

<perfidious: The Chinese regime needs to bring other countries under their hegemony; the pollution is killing off so many of their people. As always, <dicetwat> is playing straight man in the duo of <dumbass and dumbasser> in his rush to condemn American 'libs'.

and <perfidious: <nok: <dice> and <mort> seem to have the same humor and intellectual level. Just an observation.>

Not to mention their insatiable desire to play straight man in the <dumbass and dumbasser> shtick with their hero, <blathering paedophile>. Isn't that right, <fagasaurus>?>

A response: <diceman: One sign you're Dummy <perfidious:> You speak like this:

<boi>
<kudzu cabron>
<heart attack giver> <fagasaurus antonin> <dumbass and dumbasser> <dicetwat>>

Instead of switching insults, let's go retro rewind all the way back to 2020:

<<<Jul-07-20 perfidious: <Bureaucrat: By the way, it's extremely funny that <BP> emailed his barely literate friend <tga> for help....> A classic pairing, featuring <dumbass and dumbasser>.

Big Pawn: <P-Eggy Face: perfidious: <sybil the credulous.....Lord knows you've been challenged publicly and have always slinked (sic) away shamefully with egg on your face, in my presence.> The word you're looking for here is 'slunk', <mr 97+ in English>. As I said, I shall ruthlessly bare your every error for all to see, so long as you play your role as part of the comedy duo of <dumbass and dumbasser>.>

< slunk\ ˈsləŋk \ also slinked\> Dictionary says also “slinked”
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dic...

<perfy boy> has so much egg on his face I’m going to have to rename him The Egg Man.

perfidious: <sybil the credulous.....Lord knows you've been challenged publicly and have always slinked (sic) away shamefully with egg on your face, in my presence.> The word you're looking for here is 'slunk', <mr 97+ in English>.

As I said, I shall ruthlessly bare your every error for all to see, so long as you play your role as part of the comedy duo of <dumbass and dumbasser>.

You're welcome.

perfidious: <bumptious impiety: <Perf> thinks that people with a Christian worldview are a <pathetic excuse for human being>…..> Not quite, <boi>: I have known a number of upstanding Christians, including some who do not profess to that faith. In any case, they better represent Christianity than you ever will.

<….For <perf>, liberalism is his religion and if you're not liberal (promote sodomy, abortion, divorce) then you're a <pathetic excuse for human being.>>

Truth hurts, don't it? You don't understand pissall and never will.

<He's a fanatic.
An extremist.
A hater.>

You and <dicer remora>, coming in as attack/lap dog, missed your latest engagement as <dumbass and dumbasser>.

Sorry, no bookings anywhere right now--turrble, innit?>>>

Obviously, FTB does not complain nearly enough about the level of decency on this website.

fredthebear: This is the kind of sudden moderation that Fredthebear receives for a now-deleted chess post:

<4/24/2023
The account <fredthebear> has received a kibitzing suspension for 32 hours due to the following post:

fredthebear: "reiteration" is an eleven-letter word similar to "pollution" and there's plenty of both. Giri would have prepared something useful.>

Whoa. I'm such a bad bear compared to those gentle souls above. I really must change my honest ways and start calling other members twats and dumbasses, bois and catamites, etc. etc. etc. /s

fredthebear: As a frequent participant and long-time contributing member, I'll consider the nomination as a means to help improve the website. Being still-active as a tournament player and chess coach, I do understand competitive chess and the nature of the various sorts of conversations that take place here at CGs.

Posting should focus on the topic of discussion, not repeatedly berating another member. Of course, it does not have to be all chess all the time -- attempts at humor and humanness are generally welcome.

On the other hand, being deliberately mean and hurtful toward others is not healthy, useful to the website. If consistently removing the worst off-topic posts of the worst is not a goal, then my volunteering would seem pointless. There has to be some fair, consistent accountability applied for all.

Having the authority to do the clean-up then and there is needed. I have no interest in reporting/requesting that an administrator take care of the matter at some later point. Oppressive users behave so much better, nicer when they know that the website is being steadily monitored on a daily basis.

perfidious: Translation of the opening paragraph: if you no longer are an active player, you axiomatically have fewer rights than I, and I alone will decide who may discuss what and how. Stay in line or I will use my privileges to cause you trouble.

While I do not propose to claim that I am simon pure, one could cite innumerable incidents in which the putative admin has 'berated another member', but I have no intention of so doing in this post.

This expression of fairness and consistency is laudable, but on the basis of past behaviour, there is no reason whatever to expect such in practice. The poster's practices are very clearly tendencious, and it is not at all difficult to imagine that he would soon begin utilising those newfound powers to settle old scores. On carefully reading some of the attacks by him, from long before the existence of CG, the poster who wishes to elevate himself has borne a grudge against this writer and would certainly not be above selective enforcement of the rules.
