 | | stevemcd87: <Stone> Sorry about today's puzzle. There was a typo on Sunday's Game so the script went to the next day, ultimately my fault. I fixed it for tomorrow and double checked puzzles for the next few weeks. We haven't changed the person choosing the puzzles, I think he's been doing it for nearly a decade. We'd like to eventually have multiple puzzles of the day. I'll send you an email sometime tomorrow to discuss how you can help, we will greatly appreciate it. |

 | | MissScarlett: <Miss Susan>, how about <Burying the Pede> for Keene vs B Eley, 1964? I will abide by your ruling. |

 | | Susan Freeman: <MissS> Well, even though both players are questionable (IMO) in different ways, the game is good. I rule no censorship. |

 | | Check It Out: His greatest accomplishment being that he was the first CG chess player to be highlighted POTD based on birth date rather than randomly. ;) Daniel Hugo Campora (kibitz #17) |

 | | MissScarlett: If it was my domain, Howard Staunton would have been <POTD> at least once.....a week. I remember when I first joined the site - when was that? 2014, I believe - there were only about 350 of his games (including consulting partners) in the DB. Meagre harvest! Now there are about 580! Poor Morphy's been left in the dust. |

 | | FSR: I have a couple of questions about E Karklins vs H Terrie, 1990. First, I tried to post a comment to the game, but got a 403 Forbidden message. The comment I wanted to post was: <"Old Man Karklins," as he was affectionately called, was a strong player who knew a lot of theory and didn't shy away from the sharpest lines. He prepared with his son, FIDE Master and local legend Andrew Karklins. Here 20.Nxb7?? was a very strange blunder. Karklins had played all the best moves, and according to Stockfish (a build more recent than 15.1) all he had to do was play the obvious 20. Qxd8 Qxd8 21. Nxb7 Qa8 22. Nc5+ Kf7 23. Bb2 Qa5 24. Na4 to keep the advantage.> Why won't it let me post this comment?
Second, why doesn't this game show up on Opening Explorer? Opening Explorer shows only two games, in both of which White played 20.Qxd8. It doesn't show this game, where White played 20.Nxb7?? Why not? |
