Susan Freeman: <juan31> CG is working on the problem. We apologize. Thank you for your patience.
Jun-11-23  stone free or die: <juan31> as discussed above, one can switch your default viewer to <pgn4web> and at least be able to play through the games.

Just change your <Default Viewer> in the pull-down menu under the gameboard.

You can always switch it back to <Olga> when the fix is in.

Jun-11-23  Idk1992: Hello everyone! i don't know why but the chessgames.com website is glitching in the mobile a lot. The pieces movement animation is weird and for some reason in analysis when you move the piece it's as if your using a controller. Does anyone know how to fix this?

offramp: <Cysticcandy2: Guys! There is something wrong. Whenever i try to go through a the moves of a game , it appears that the pieces are being dragged down from the top of the screen before finally settling down on the correct square. It suddenly started happening today.. can anyone help me? Please.>

That reminds me of Korchnoi vs Karpov, 1978. At the last minute neither player liked board or pieces, so Ferdinand Marcos's own chess was driven across the arpilipeligo.

Clame!! A World Chess Championship without a board and set.

In the same way, <chessgames.com> does not have a chess interface for viewers.

MissScarlett: Technical issues are part of <cg>'s rustic charm. <Miss Susan>, can I have an assurance that you will never sell out to the Saudis?

  stevemcd87: Hello all,
We've made an update that seems to have solved the issue.
Please let us know if you run into any other issues.
Sorry for the inconvenience
Jun-11-23  stone free or die: Just curious - what update caused the problem?

(I'm curious if <Olga> development / enhancements are being done)

offramp: There was some string and matches and fiddle with the Fortran and a bit of a kick in the cobblers and a few games of Dungeons & Dragons and then Olga was as right as rain.

Susan Freeman: <Sfod> It was a different upgrade.
Jun-13-23  stone free or die: Now that the kerfuffles have settled down, let me say that explanation isn't exactly what I was looking for.

Let's just play it straight down the lane - how is it that <CG> does an upgrade without monitoring the post-upgrade behavior?

It's as if the upgrade was done last thing on Friday, just before walking out the door for the weekend.

I would think that any upgrades done on <CG> would benefit from a prescribed period of post-upgrade monitoring to ensure the user experience isn't compromised.

If the upgrade were to cause misbehavior - I would hope that a process would be at the ready where it could be backed out.

This would be especially important if upgrades are being done to the <CG> site live - i.e. without be checked out on a test bed framework.

This past weekend's experience suggests the process is lacking.

Hope you don't mind, or misconstrue, this hopefully constructive criticism.

Susan Freeman: It was an unforseen slip.
No big deal.
nobody is walking out the door to the beach.
Your criticism and constant prediction of CG's demise is neither constructive or appreciated and frankly passive aggressive. Please stop
Jun-13-23  little ernie: Often I'm away & miss the POTD. Unfortunately the POTD archives omit from the position the day, date or difficulty. Either would indicate the challenge. Sat & Sundays are way over my ability.

Susan Freeman: <dorsnikov>Your membership expires 01-05-2024. If you renew it now, you will still pay $29.
You can renew 1-3 years.
After July 1, 2023, The membership price will be $39, for one year, with no 2 or 3 year option. CG just moved the date of the price increase to July 1.

Stonehenge: Who is doing the POTDs?

It has been pretty bad since last year I think.

Puzzles with multiple solutions, puzzles on the wrong day etc.

For example: H Koller vs C Di Caro, 2004, I tipped you guys via email about this game, saying it was a Monday puzzle. It ended up as a Thursday Puzzle.

Time for me to take over command.
