 | | Susan Freeman: Annie K is thumbs up! |

 | | stevemcd87: <Remember that issue with duplicate games caused by the <Nbd2> (and maybe <Nbd7>) quirk? I believe you sorted it, but such games still regularly crop up as duplicates. Is there any way to trawl the DB for them? A mass deletion could then solve the problem.> <MissS> Sorry for the delay
Please provide the PGN and the Duplicate Game when you experience the issue again.
I believe the bug is when the PGN includes <Nbd2> but the Duplicate Game includes <Ne2> or <Nge2>.
Once we confirm that is the case, We'll work on a script to find the games with the issue and update them accordingly. |

 | | MissScarlett: What news, if any? Is she still working in the field of chess? Is she aware there's a part-time, modestly-remunerated role at <cg> for the taking? |
|
Nov-06-23
 | | Susan Freeman: <MissS> No news. No comment. Just a thumbs up. Very concise.
I am not aware of a part-time opening.
Are you reaching into your own back pocket for this? lol |

 | | MissScarlett: <No news. No comment. Just a thumbs up.> Are you sure it wasn't a middle finger? |

 | | Stonehenge: Another DDoS attack?
Site is very slow at times today. |

Nov-07-23 | | stone free or die: <Stonehenge: Another DDoS attack? Site is very slow at times today.>
Any correlation with recent events on <Rogoff>? |

 | | stevemcd87: < Stonehenge: Another DDoS attack? > Yes, started yesterday. We've been trying to stay on top of it but they are persistent. <stone free or die: Any correlation with recent events on <Rogoff>?> Anything specific? I'm not on there much |
|
Nov-07-23 | | stone free or die: <<s87> Anything specific? I'm not on there much> Just <bippy>'s being back. |

Nov-08-23 | | Messiah: I ask you once again: please remove <perfy> from my ignore-list. |
|
Nov-08-23
 | | Susan Freeman: <Messiah><I ask you once again: please remove <perfy> from my ignore-list.> It is being discussed. ( CG is trying to elevate above the kidergarten level. ) |
|
Nov-09-23 | | stone free or die: Daniel never intended the ignore-list to be administered by administrators. Also - I got a "posting too much" message after this: Kenneth Rogoff (kibitz #34913) Look at my posting history from this afternoon. I'm handling a lot of threads yes, but it's mostly quick posts to wrap up or thank contributors. In other words - I think your algorithm needs tweaking. |
|
Nov-09-23 | | stone free or die: If you need an example design study, I suggest looking at machine-gun multi-posting on a single forum. Not to name names, but as a reference point:
Kenneth Rogoff (kibitz #34901) Five posts on a single page - basic ad nauseam content-less trolling. Normally I wouldn't complain too much (after all, that's what the ignore-list is for), but since being targeted I hope the algorithm is reviewed, both for fairness and efficiency. Regards. |

 | | Check It Out: <sfod> is referring to <The Integrity>, another <Big Pawn/George Wallace> sock puppet. I thought he was banned from CG. |
|
Nov-10-23 | | stone free or die: Did someone change the <Advanced Search> function recently? I always used to search for <Bang> and find this player in the returned list: Bang He(?) no longer appears. Could that be changed back? |
|
Nov-10-23
 | | Stonehenge: The game is now here:
Keene vs E Bang, 1965 If a player has zero games, you cannot search for that player. I think that should change too. |
|
Nov-10-23
 | | Stonehenge: Another example is Argue. |
|
Nov-11-23
 | | Susan Freeman: The mandatory ignore is being lifted tomorrow. On a fitting day, I might add. |
|
Nov-11-23 | | stone free or die: <Stonehenge> thanks for that - it just hadn't occurred to me that Bang got identified. I liked it a little better when I was squatting on an ambiguous player's page. It's an imperfect world we live in (though <stonehenge> makes it a little less imperfect everyday it seems!). |
|
Nov-11-23 | | stone free or die: Another annoyance:
I posted (or tried to) these two posts:
Anderssen - Morphy (1858) (kibitz #30) Anderssen - Morphy (1858) (kibitz #31) The 2nd got flagged as "flooding the forum".
I know you mean well, but... |
|
Nov-12-23 | | Messiah: <Susan Freeman: The mandatory ignore is being lifted tomorrow. On a fitting day, I might add.> Eagerly waiting for it! But now I am ordering some Burger King, to be less stressed. |

 | | FISHEGGS: It would be nice to have the option of using
descriptive notation (at least for personal use)as well as algebraic epecially for puzzles, game of the day, guess the blunder, etc. Just a click on a box of some sort and you would be changed over to one or the other etc. Thanks |
|
Nov-12-23 | | stone free or die: <l2ufisheggs> That's an interesting request, partly because it's an unexpected one. I tried to find such a converter on the web without much success (it might be out there, if one digs more - I did find a non-working one due to Java being out of date). Then I thought, let me try SCID (my graphical and db interface). It handles a variety of algebraic styles, so why not give it a try? I did.
Trouble is, <1.P-K4 P-K4> was enough to crash SCID. |
