As in "a way to reduce the amount of punishment one has to undergo for sins"?

Shirley, you jest!

Oct-30-23  stone free or die: <Messiah: Elon Musk please buy CG.>

Whoa, careful there lassie. That's Susan's third rail.

Wonder if <CG> will be consistent. Nah, unlikely.

Anyways, Musk is the one buyer who I think would be guaranteed to "sink" <CG>.

I believe Musk has green eyes, not blue.

Oct-31-23  Total Jim: Greetings ...

something is amiss with the Opening Explorer ... from the opening position, the bottom entry on the list shows a move of 1.Qc1 for a single game played between M A Gagic vs S R Galaviz Medina, 2022 0-1 ...

according to the score given for this game, the first move was actually 1.e4 ... and of course, Qc1 would be an illegal first move for a classical game ...

Oct-31-23  Total Jim: Greetings again ...

regarding my previous post - progress has been made ... now when the Opening Explorer first comes up, the bogus entry for 1.Qc1 no longer appears at the end of the move list ... thank you ...

however ...

when the board is flipped to show the position from Black's side, the 1.Qc1 mistake is still there ...

and while you're at it, the total number of games played from the White side is now shown as 1,520,744 ... flipping the board around shows a different total of 1,520,835 ...

so - you might want to take a look at this issue too ... I seem to remember that a consensus was reached that the total number of games – and all of the data – should be the same regardless of being shown from the White side or the Black side of the board ...

best regards ...

I considered the event too weak. A large number of <2000 players. That aside, I don't think <cg> can be accused of not giving women's chess due attention or respect.

Fair enough. I would have still been interested in the games of some of the notable talented youngsters. By and large I agree with your last sentence and didn't mean to imply the contrary. CG usually always does well to upload the women's sections of particularly important events which I'm thankful for.
