  stevemcd87: <Main Editors> can now upload a event's round directly from TWIC, useful for events with larger PGN files. In the editor page, after clicking "Show Submissions", you can find an "Upload a round from TWIC" section. It's probably best to wait for all games in the round to have completed before uploading them.

Unlike the <Big Pawn / George Wallace / The Integrity [sic]> constellation, I've never used sock puppets for posting purposes.

In my case they're aliases, whose purposes most assuredly aren't dissimulation nor echo-vexation.

(Though I do admit to the occasional bout of satirical whimsy)

As a reminder - Susan explicitly stated once upon a time that we can have three accounts. Please allow me remind you of some of the reasons for having multiple accounts...

<(1) It was a well established practice of Daniel to allow multiple accounts for constructive purposes (continue reading...)>

<(2) I would like to firewall the <zanzibar> account for mostly biographical purposes (and emergency use for communicating if other accounts are locked out).>

<(3) Secondary accounts may be used to address users which a primary account has put on ignore. This is what I mean by firewalling - avoiding debates in one forum spilling over to another.>

To elaborate, I'm asking for one account for serious biographical work (<zanzibar>), one general account (<stone free or die>) for general <CG> exchanges, and a third account mostly designed for use on <Rogoff> (<guess who?>). This seems to be a good formula.

(It would be nice to have an account which isn't dogged by nefarious cross-topic posting, or interfering interlopers (e.g. see preceding post just above)).

Ideally the identity of the accounts would not be made public to avoid cross-contamination (and dog-pack attacks). It's too late in my case, but consider Daniel's <chessgames> and <sneaky> accounts. Alias accounts, if properly utilized, would be constructive and hopefully lead to less dust-ups on the forums, unlike sock puppet accounts (see next post).

(Now, I think <Daniel> accidentally stumbled onto this formula since <sneaky> was originally a shilling account - albeit a useful and understandable one at the time)

Note the phrase "deceptive". An alias is only deceptive in the sense that it is designed to avoid cross-forum contamination - e.g. allowing someone to engage in politics without attracting dog-pack attacks in different forums.

<CG> can monitor the use of aliases to ensure non-abuse.

  perfidious: I have never observed deception or malice in <zed>'s use of sockies, which, however, cannot be said of the kibitzer who made the fly-by to launch another attack against him--his one and only post over the last eight days.

As is only too common, that kibitzer launches accusations against others which reflect behaviour in which he constantly indulges, such as lying and slyly making chess posts as a cover, all while throwing in political asides.
