 | | Diademas: <sonia91: <cg.com> Why was Carlsen's name bolded even before Grenke was finished, but Kashlinskaya, winer of the European Women's Championship, isn't? Also all previous events in homepage has the winner's name bolded, except the Euopean Women's.> That's not entirely correct. Neither Gibraltar Masters (2019) nor Tata Steel Masters (2019)
has the winner's name bolded.
I believe we are looking at an oversight, and not some evil misogynistic master plan imposed by the patriarchy, |
|
| May-02-19 | | sonia91: Never implied that, just a call for consistency (and a reminder, since I already pointed out this oversight). However <since the start> of the practise of bolding the winner, the Euro Women's is the only tournament that hasn't the winner's name bolded. |

 | | OhioChessFan: I'd be fine with the <whiteshark> idea... |
|
| May-02-19 | | Nisjesram: <whiteshark: <centralfiles> A company concerned/worried about its customers would do that.
Hello, Kurt Widmann, you haven't been on our website for a month already....Some members have expressed their concern about your health.... We hope you are well...Let us hear from you... in such a way
That shouldn't be too hard, should it?> Hahaha.
Good joke, of course :) Why would anyone like to receive such an email :)
Especially if their staying away is a choice instead of being forced to stay away due to health reason or whatever. Funny :)

| May-02-19 | | centralfiles: <Nisjesram>
i couldn't disagree more. |
|
| May-02-19 | | Count Wedgemore: <Nisjesram: Why would anyone like to receive such an email :)> Yeah, must be terrible receiving an email that shows some empathy and legitimate concern about your well-being, right? Don't mind <Nisj>'s usual silliness. <whiteshark>'s idea is a good one. |

 | | Susan Freeman: I have personally had telephone conversations recently( in the last 4 months) with members calling me with questions and speaking about how much pleasure CG gives them in their declining health. Are we to single out one member and ignore the others who have not recently posted. I do not keep a ledger on who should be checked upon as in an assisted living home.
I am open to communication from any member or family, but it is not the place if CG to do a tally. Feelings could be hurt by omission. Please try to look at the entire scope of things. I
By being sensitive I could very well be insensitive to others. On a personal basis. Any member should feel free to reach out on his/ her own. I hope this makes sense. 😊 |

| May-02-19 | | Boomie: Kurt Widmann was a key member of the World Team. His work ethic inspired us to work harder. He was one reason that we were never defeated. He has a Facebook page and can also probably be reached through Canadian chess organizations. CG is clearly already overloaded with work. We don't need to add more to their In box. |

I mean if some guy stops participating in a social media site because he got busy with his projects and that site disturbing him " is your health ok?" Crazy.
. |
|
| May-02-19 | | Nisjesram: Some people are very private.
Some others are very selective in their social interactions - meaning that they want 'personal ' interactions only with a selected few and with others they maintain very civil yet impersonal relations. For me , my relation with most of the people on this site is impersonal - especially with admins of this site. So, if people with whom I don't have personal equation , if they contact me "How is your health ? Is there any other difficult situation you dealing with , in case your health is ok " Yeah , right !
"I need ten million dollars . Good that you asked. So, let us arrange money transfer" "Well, money can't buy you love. We got in touch with you to give love and good vibes" "Guys , I love you all and I know you all love me because that is what your nature is - loving and kind. Please don't bother to tell this to me next time. I already know it. Thank you. Good bye. Have a nice day"

| May-02-19 | | Nisjesram: Hey , <whiteshark> , were you joking or you were serious ? :) I mean I really thought that you were joking but some guys think you were serious (not necessarily only those guys who are lonely , love starved and are living very difficult lives). So , just curious :) Thank you , mate :)
Cheers :)

| May-02-19 | | Nisjesram: <centralfiles: This whole conversation has become so degrading i regret ever mentioning this> I would take that.
Regret would produce the same result in this case as deep understanding :) Cheers :)

<whiteshark> was serious ? Really ? Are you serious ? :)

| May-02-19 | | mckmac: <Nisjesram>: Mate, just let it go. It's not really any of our business.😀 |
|
| May-02-19 | | Nisjesram: You are right , <mckmac> :) None of our business :)
Ok, guys , I recall one more movie scene . Here : "My name is Paul.
It is between you all"
Thank you , guys :)
Love you all. :)
Regards .
Cheers :)

| May-03-19 | | Nisjesram: I think cg.com should send birthday wishes to everyone , too. They should have a column in registration form - please tell us date of your birth . If you don't provide this information , you will not receive wishes on your birthday instead you would receive wishes on 1st January : "happy birthday to you , dear 'x' , whenever it comes. Cheers ". . |

 | | Diademas: If I for some reason don't post here for a period of time, I would have seen it as nobody's business but my own. If my health were failing I may have informed about it, but most likely not. I don't think I would have appreciated CG.Com or any users making inquiries or posting status rapport into something I would regard as private. |

<Steamed Colleagues> <Matt> is hosting a "post your favorite French Defence game of the past year" cocktail party over at <Domdaniel's> gaffe. He has even organized prizes, all in honor of <Dom's> birthday coming up soon. Soiree details: Domdaniel chessforum (kibitz #24576) |

 | | Diademas: I don't get the line spacing on this site.
It seams like double-spacing is the default, but it would be nice to have single-spacing. Also: when quoting other posts (copy and paste) sometimes the double-spacing is kept, and sometimes it magically disappears. For no apparent reason. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<Diademas> Have you tried typing in the boxes from a different computer? I'm pretty sure the default in these boxes is single spaced lines. I always have to hit the "dink" tab to make double space lines in these boxes. I wrote "dink" tab because I don't know the correct word for the button to press, and I am literally too lazy to turn on the light and look at what it says on the button. It is night time here in Canada. |
