Oct-13-06  pawn52: <cu8sfan> Hey man long time no see. How'd your vacation go?

cu8sfan: <pawn52> I had a great time in Canada. We'll be back next year. I don't kibitz as often as I used to but I still visit on a daily base. Feel free to challenge me on gameknot whenever you feel like another game.
Oct-15-06  pawn52: <cu8sfan> Nice! Glad you had a great time. Man, after last week, I could've used a vacation. You wouldn't BELIEVE what I went through. I'll send ya a challenge though on gameknot. Need something to do. We got tomorrow off school so I'm trying to find something to keep myself occupied.
Oct-17-06  Stevens: Hey <cu8sfan>. Lou Piniella is due to be announced as the new Cubs manager!

cu8sfan: Really? Maybe they should hire Jim Leyland... After the Red Sox, White Sox, Tigers, it seems like every team's had a chance now except for the Cubs. I always say they won't fill the century but we're getting awfully close it scares me.
Oct-25-06  yalie: hi when is the next contest?

cu8sfan: Good question. Honestly, I have no idea. Is the season over? What's up next? There won't be anything on Christmas as I'm playing myself this year in the Zurich Open (http://www.kradolfer-informatik.ch/...).
Oct-25-06  percyblakeney: <What's up next?>

There's a Tal Memorial coming up soon (starting November 5th or 6th, I think) and according to earlier posts at Magnus Carlsen it's supposed to include:

<Svidler (2750)
Aronian (2741)
Leko (2741)
Gelfand (2733)
Shirov (2720)
Grischuk (2710)
Ponomariov (2703)
Magnus (2698)

(missing player 9)

cu8sfan: A quick search revealed that missing player 9 is Moro (http://www.chessworld.net/chessclub...). This sounds like a great event now if there only were a bit more information on the web.

White to play.

WannaBe: Shredder has it at -3.25 with white to move, Kg2 is the recommended move for white.

While my brain recommended 0-1 as the best move for white.

cu8sfan: So we're using Shredder, are we? (-:

Sorry, I had no computer evaluation. I figured I might win this, but it would still be a long way. Rook endings can be that way. Of course, your rook is very passive and I still have one more pawn. Thanks for the game.

Nov-03-06  Rocafella: Hey Cu8. Take my advice, I suck at chess but do not give up, I got lucky. Never apologise for playing bad, If I did that, I would be constantly sorry =)

cu8sfan: Thanks, <Rocafella>. It's just, I'm going through a streak where everything seems to go wrong chesswise. I know I first need to get back to where I simply enjoy playing and solving puzzles. Maybe I've been too result orientated recently. Maybe this would be good advice for me: http://despair.com/in24x30prin.html.

And while you're on that site: Is this guy wearing a Cubs shirt? http://despair.com/los24x30prin.html

Nov-08-06  Rocafella: LMAO!! Cubs and failure are associated? I don't even know the rules of american sports, never mind follow them!
Nov-20-06  Stevens: <cu8sfan> <CHICAGO -- The Cubs appear to have landed one of the biggest free-agent names on the market, reportedly signing outfielder Alfonso Soriano to an eight-year, $135 million contract.>

you lucky buggers. the yankees should never have let that guy go. one bad post season and he was gone. we missed out there.

cu8sfan: <Stevens> I never follow the offseason deals and trades. It's too depressing. But this sounds like good news. Will it be enough to win a championship? How's Soriano's pitching? I keep on saying 'The Cubs won't complete the century before their next championship'. It's getting very, very close...
Nov-21-06  chessmoron: <cu8sfan: How's Soriano's pitching?>

You are joking, right? He plays Left Field.

.277 Batting Avg
46 HRs
95 RBIs
119 Runs
41 Stolen Bases

Cubs need a bit more to win a pennant.

Nov-21-06

cu8sfan: <chessmoron> Yes, of course I was joking. With my comment I wanted to say that the Cubs don't need a home run hitter but more pitching. Otherwise they'd won the pennant when they had Sammy Sosa.

cu8sfan: Ah, hilarious! I finally got the calendar I ordered from the USA. It took a very long time to deliver. Might have something to do with the fact that there's a big fat stamp of the Royal Swedish Mail on it... (-:
