jessicafischerqueen: <Mr. Owls> yes I'm all for BANANA as well, but I'm not encouraged by the first outing. The best news on that was that <Boris Chicken> doesn't seem to understand that in chess, "fortune favors the bold."

That was an egregious error not to play out that endgame with the Black pieces, when at GM level, barring a big mistake, White should expect that a draw would be the best result.

Big, big mistake on <Chicken's> part in a 12 game match.

Also, the time control is obscene for a World Championship Match. A proper chess game should allow at least ten or twelve hours to complete.

And of course a 12 game match is also obscene.

In a proper World Championship Match, the players should expect to be there for over 3 months and almost die. Like in Kasparov-Karpov 1984.

Chess is a serious sport, not for sissies. Too bad FIDE is allowing the game to die on the vine.

Ya. Chess is all knuckles and know how. Pansies need not apply.

harrylime: < Boomie><Carlsen doesn't care for openings and tries to get out of book. Feels more like Capablanca to me. Once out of the book with an equal position, Capa and Carlsen are near impossible to beat. The same could be said, of course, about Fischer and Kasparov. Capa and Carlsen would be hard pressed to get out of the opening with an equal position against those two opening experts.>

I'm playing thru Carlsen's games and you are right,Capa is there. But in so many postitions he reminds me of Fischer too.

I also think Carlsen is pretty cool in the openings.. wins many games due to opening prep.Again echoes of Fischer.

Carlsen belongs in the Morphy, Capa, Fischer line .. His style is so redolent of this line.

harrylime: The fact that Carlsen is not involved in this current world championship match also has echoes of Fischer..

jessicafischerqueen: Quite right <Harry> Bobby was clearly best in the world at <Sousse> and he missed that cycle by his own choice. The Russkies were well afraid of Bobby by then, and with good reason.

jessicafischerqueen: <Thanh> In the case of a video like the one you posted, it's a two step process:

1. Download the video onto your hard drive. If it's a youtube video you just use <youtube downloader HD>, and if it's not there are hundreds of other video rippers- takes some time to find the one that works best for a given site. Many of them are free.

2. Use a video to jpg converter- this is a free and easy one I use: http://download.cnet.com/Free-Video...
