SwitchingQuylthulg: <TD> You're far from the first to do that little experiment :)

<jessicafischerqueen: My favorite memory from that time is <chess classic's> post when both <branko> and me went over a hundred pages:

<"You jerks! I used to have the most popular forum here!

Regards, CC">

<chess classics> also put me on ignore to find out how many of the posts in my forum were from people other than me.

Then he posted the result of his experiment in my forum, followed by the succinct gloss:

"Not many.
Regards, CC"

Man I miss <chess classics>.>

Incidentally, "not many" is one of the leading misquotes in CG.com history... here's the actual quote:

<Chess Classics: I just wanted to see just how genuine your "100 pages" really was. (Not very).>

And the "jerks" quote has evolved over the years, too :)

<Apr-19-07: jessicafischerqueen: <You jerks! I used to have the fourth most popular forum in here... Regards, CC>>

<Jan-12-09: jessicafischerqueen: <Chess Classics>: You jerks! I used to have the second most popular forum in here!>

<Jun-18-11: jessicafischerqueen: <"You jerks! I used to have the most popular forum here!

Regards, CC">>

Ah, memories... they only get better with time.

"Roughly more than 28,299 kibitzes in total were posted between February and July 2007."

Dec-15-12  WBP: Congratulations on a thousand pages, <Jess>! You're rapidly approaching War and Peace (though there are far fewer chess diagrams and music links in that book. I do think that Chessgames.com has more wars, though).
Dec-15-12  WBP: Actually, Prince Andrey does consult Deep Blue on the eve of Borodino...

jessicafischerqueen: <Ohio> I'm one of those people in the world who has actually read every single word in the King James Bible.

So I know there are many, many more names on that list.

What do you think it might mean if you found every single one of them?

Might it mean the Christmas Spirit has a supernatural effect on chessgames.com?

Neither Mr. JFQ nor myself has ever been a Bible expert, but we both think this likely.

OhioChessFan: Jess, I was working on that this morning, and got so engrossed I didn't notice the time. I wasn't early to church, and when my minister got there a few minutes early, and I wasn't there, he called to see what was happening. I happened to get there right on time, which is late by my standards. Maybe that's interesting. Or not.

As for the last list, they are all, amazingly enough, found in Genesis. I have in mind a list of prophets. I would guess there'd be a much longer list from the New Testament since there the Greek has been Anglicized a lot more than the Hebrew was, and the names are much more common to our ears. I was shocked though, to try Heth, Ophir, Havilah, Haran, Abimelech, and Gad, and hit paydirt.

I do have a bit of unease playing with it, much like using a Ouija Board. I know it's just a game and all, but there is something not quite right about it. How can all those accounts have just one day of activity, and for what purpose? Bizarre.

OhioChessFan: <I'm one of those people in the world who has actually read every single word in the King James Bible.>

I wonder what the % is. I'm guessing tenths of one percent.

<So I know there are many, many more names on that list. >

Yes, many more outside of Genesis, which was my self imposed limit for the last.

<What do you think it might mean if you found every single one of them?>

I think it would be like solving the Tower of Hanoi, and the world would end.

<Might it mean the Christmas Spirit has a supernatural effect on chessgames.com?>

I want to attribute a positive spirit to those spooky one day users. They probably deserve a good name with a catchy acronym. One Day User. ODU. I think Old Dominion University has that copyrighted, so I'll work on it.

<Neither Mr. JFQ nor myself has ever been a Bible expert, but we both think this likely.>

I'm all for a positive spin on it.

jessicafischerqueen: <Ohio> I haven't the slightest doubt that only positive supernatural things are associated with Christmas, the King James Bible, and Chessgames.com.

No doubt in my mind or heart whatsoever.

I just saw a very beautiful BBC documentary on why, and how, the King James Bible was written in the first place.

For me, speaking only for myself, it's the Bible I was brought up on and it's the only Bible for me. I find the English prose and poetry in it to be of extraordinary beauty.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve...

I once devised a slightly different version of the song, which is apropos for the Season of Giving Till It Hurts:

On the First Day of Credit
My banker gave to me:
A card with no annual fee.

On the Second Day of Credit
My banker gave to me:
Two years to pay,
And a card with no annual fee.

On the Third Day of Credit
My banker gave to me:
Three thousand miles,
Two years to pay,
And a card with no annual fee.

On the Fourth Day of Credit
My banker gave to me:
Four free gifts,
Three thousand miles,
Two years to pay,
And a card with no annual fee.

On the Fifth Day of Credit
My banker gave to me:
Five interest hikes!
Four free gifts,
Three thousand miles,
Two years to pay,
And a card with no annual fee.

On the Sixth Day of Credit
My banker gave to me:
Six minimum payments,
Five interest hikes!
Four free gifts,
Three thousand miles,
Two years to pay,
And a card with no annual fee.

On the Seventh Day of Credit
My banker gave to me:
Seven bills a-mailing,
Six minimum payments,
Five interest hikes!
Four free gifts,
Three thousand miles,
Two years to pay,
And a card with no annual fee.

On the Eighth Day of Credit
My banker gave to me:
Eight rates a-milking,
Seven bills a-mailing,
Six minimum payments,
Five interest hikes!
Four free gifts,
Three thousand miles,
Two years to pay,
And a card with no annual fee.

On the Ninth Day of Credit
My banker gave to me:
Nine unpaid balances,
Eight rates a-milking,
Seven bills a-mailing,
Six minimum payments,
Five interest hikes!
Four free gifts,
Three thousand miles,
Two years to pay,
And a card with no annual fee.

On the Tenth Day of Credit
My banker gave to me:
Ten refinancings,
Nine unpaid balances,
Eight rates a-milking,
Seven bills a-mailing,
Six minimum payments,
Five interest hikes!
Four free gifts,
Three thousand miles,
Two years to pay,
And a card with no annual fee.

On the Eleventh Day of Credit
My banker gave to me:
Chapter 11,
Ten refinancings,
Nine unpaid balances,
Eight rates a-milking,
Seven bills a-mailing,
Six minimum payments,
Five interest hikes!
Four free gifts,
Three thousand miles,
Two years to pay,
And a card with no annual fee.

On the Twelfth Day of Credit
My banker gave to me:
Twelve brand new cards,
Chapter 11,
Ten refinancings,
Nine unpaid balances,
Eight rates a-milking,
Seven bills a-mailing,
Six minimum payments,
Five interest hikes!
Four free gifts,
Three thousand miles,
Two years to pay,
And a card with no annual fee.

Good Heavens!

I'm very happy to get even more accurate historical information from you, and also such a wonderful version of the song, with your own special flavor.

Actually your personality reminds me a lot of <crawfb5's>.

With reference to the Civil War, he told me

"It's not over till I say it's over."

Phony Benoni: <jfq> Actually, <crawfb5> and I are twins separated at birth. And I do mean separated, to the point that our births occurred many months apart.
Dec-17-12  Travis Bickle: Hi Jess, just wanted to tell you I played an artistic game, (for me), on Playchess! I had the white pieces against a Sicilian Najdorf defense. It finished with a beautiful ending where I attacked my opponents Queen with my Rook which was protected by my Queen forcing him to move his lady to safety and his time eventually ran out.

When I put it on Fritz 11 with more time I thought Fritz found a defense for black. I moved my K to the wrong square in post game analysis but Fritzy showed me a safe square for my King to stop a possible counter attack by black and it was an unavoidable mate for me! ; P
