The single episode which killed me was one of his typical 'Stifle yahself, Eedit' where Edith replied with, 'No, <you> stifle!' Bust a gut whenever I watch that one. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Travis and Ohio> thanks very much for such good information on BEATLES TROMBONE. <Tdog> it's a slow download but my 'Complete Beatles' is almost here. Great promo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtFU... lol John can't keep a straight face, one reason might be he's making fun of necessity to lip synch for the promo? Travis two things that really stuck with me after watching all 300 hours of the "Beatles Anthology" almost straight through. 1. I had been under the impression that when the Beatles got big, they stopped performing live shortly after. In fact, as you know, but I didn't know, they went on an almost constant, and incredibly gruelling world tour that seemed endless. When they decided to stop, they were almost dead from exhaustion. 2. They liked each other's company. A lot. This is clear both from the old footage and also the recent interview footage. Even Paul and George seemed to be on easy terms, with the old struggles and fights long behind them. On a personal level, I found Ringo to be the most appealing Beatle. He's the guy I'd like to have a drink with. He is honest, his heart on his sleeve. When he's proud he speaks proudly, when he's sad he speaks sadly. He acts like someone who has nothing to hide. I think honesty just comes naturally to him. Also, it's patently false that "Ringo was a bad drummer." He was the best drummer in Liverpool in the early days, for one. For two, as he explains, because there were no live monitors in those days and because the fans screamed so loud, he couldn't do fills or anything fancy or the whole show would fall apart. Why? The lads couldn't hear themselves play whilst on stage! |

| Apr-04-13 | | Travis Bickle: <jessicafischerqueen> Kool Jess you're really getting into The Beatles! ; P P.S. The Beatles actually did three consecutive world tours from 1964-66, to places like Australia, The Philippines, Japan, Sweden, Germany, besides America & Britain! The Beatles were so creative and amazingly talented that they made records during breaks during their tours! I wonder had they not been pressed to tour so much by manager Brian Epstein would The Beatles not have burned out like the comet that they became. Maybe they would have done more albums like The Rolling Stones who had it pretty easy in the 1960's with all the pressure on The Fab 4. P.S. Here's a bitter John Lennon around 1971 who was hurt by attacks on The Beatles after they split especially from The Rolling Stones & other bands. http://youtu.be/E-b3fRisu50 |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Tbone> thanks for those rare interviews. I downloaded them and put them in my gigantic <Beatles Folder>. I don't understand the John Lennon one. Why would Stones and other bands be angry the Beatles broke up? It's obvious from the <Beatles Anthology> that they could easily have broken up even before recording the <White Album>. Given that I have heard and seen how they were feeling at this time from the documentary, I wouldn't have been angry at them for stopping at this point. On the contrary- we should all bless them for making that <White Album> and the remaining records, which are among the best records ever made in history. Not to mention which the Stones didn't make any masterpieces after <Exile> and only made a few good tracks let alone albums after that. Maybe Mick should have quit too. I don't dispute the Beatles had the creative capability to carry on, but they simply weren't happy doing that. Not one of them was happy. Even Ringo wasn't happy. |
