https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherl... Frogwares (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frogw...) had an obsession with Holmes from the beginning. They continue to turn out Holmsean stories. One remarkable effort pitted Holmes against Jack the Ripper (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherl...). They put forward an extraordinary motive for Jack which is remarkably plausible. The cursor in the game is a knife dripping blood...heh. |

The Cthulhu Mythos Explained>
Arthur Machen is my choice for that "world beneath (or even alongside)" theme. "Novel Of The Black Seal" - actually a longish short story - is a good start point. PS: Just about doubled my betting capital after the last ten days. Can now afford a double-digit amount on a big win for the <Mankies>. PPS: Love the word-plays, Jess. Keep 'em coming. |

<Cibator> Machen is grand to be sure. Of his considerable body of fine horror, I like "The White People" most. But be sure you have ahold of an unabridged version though. I recently ran into a heavily abridged version of this horrifying novel in an otherwise fine vintage short story collection. <Spurs> in free fall and yes I should have put a flatter on them losing four straight. I'm glad you made money at any rate. I haven't read <Novel of the Black Seal> yet, but I bet it is not about ocean going mammals amirite. I bet it's on youtube on audio book.
Do you ever listen to those? <Wayne June> is the master of narrating <Lovecraft>. He is all over youtube and with good reason. |

| Mar-14-20 | | Paint My Dragon: <Marcel Jessailly> Dang! What do we do in a world without footy?
Thank goodness <The Candidates> is proceeding (for now) and with a stellar commentary team, including <Nigel Short>. This might be my only salvation, along with some unread chess books and a few unwatched box-sets. And almost everything useful is disappearing from the supermarket shelves here. I used to laugh at the idea of buying a pack of 36 toilet rolls at <Costco>, but not any more. It may be time for me to consider some new hobbies ... like knitting my own <yoghurt> and growing my own <denim>. Something to fill in the long nights and at the same time, get one step ahead of the panic buyers. Whaddya think? |

Well Spurs fans are probably relieved. I know I am. As for toilet paper, that is the greatest long con of all time. Nobody needs toilet paper, nor did they ever need it. Simply purchase a small white fluffy dog- one of those miniature "pooples" I keep hearing about. Keep him handy by the bog. When necessary, simply sic him on your anus. Then, without even getting off the seat, you just lean over to the shower and wash him off. You only have to buy one (1) poople and it should be good for 6-7 years. Cost per loaf? .0000000001 cent per loaf. Put that in your calculator! |

| Mar-14-20 | | Paint My Dragon: What an outstanding tip. You certainly know how to reward a <poo>ch for all that unconditional love. Indeed, every dog needs to have a purpose, whether it’s fetching dead pheasants, killing foxes or decorating the Queen’s lawns. I have just opened a bottle of vino and raised a glass to canines everywhere. Their exemplary service should be acknowledged and appreciated. We now need to figure out the purpose of cats. |

Lawn darts.
If you drive out to the country for a relaxing day of lawn darts with your family, what do you do if your darts have broken vanes? They cannot fly and your game is over. Not so! Simply replace the lawn dart with a 1 kilogram dead weight. Attach your family cat to the dead weight with 30 grade deep sea fishing line, and have at it! The dead weight will break the air for your jury rigged lawn dart, and the cat will provide ample counterbalance, allowing for a really sweet arc on each toss. You'll thank me later. |
|
| Mar-14-20 | | Paint My Dragon: I'll thank you right now.
It's a sport I've not previously been exposed to, but now can't wait to get started. Lots of cats around here that simply lurk under cars all night long without so much as a dead mouse to justify their existence. They might as well be holding up a placard that says "find me a proper job". An alternative re-purposing may be to attach them to the rodding equipment used to unblock small drains. I mean, why not polish the inside of the pipe while you're at it. That way the sewage will flow more smoothly in future. Either way, those nine lives are going to come in very handy. Oh heck, I'm missing Match of the Day already and this is just week one of the interregnum. There's no hope for me. Doubtless the start of the American Footy season will also be delayed. |
|
| Mar-16-20 | | Cibator: Just as well I left that intended bet on the <Scum> till the last minute (as I usually do anyway). Several pundits are now agreeing that <Maureen's> appointment is turning out to be disastrous. I could have told 'em that the minute it was announced. I was thinking just beforehand: "anyone but him, O Lord ... ". As for the rest, I say: abandon the season and go with placings as they stand to decide things. Apart, that is, from: (a) FA Cup, (b) one more game for <Liverpooh> so's there can be no arguing about their right to the bloody title, and (c) maybe the odd game-in-hand to settle play-off qualifications. |

Derby should be promoted along with Lids at the half way stage due to historical weight and history. The legal argument doesn't fit in with this but I don't care aboooot that.
