  jessicafischerqueen: <Thanh> thanks for such a great article- I just added it to my Profile in "Bobby Fischer Articles" section.

Garry is such a cultured man and an excellent writer.

  jessicafischerqueen: <mad> thank you so much -

RANDALL is a genius.

I've just watched one of his documentaries and he is truly brilliant.

Jul-16-11  twinlark: Hi jess! Yep, I've done some work on that front, plus a few others. I see Stanley is still at it. Shows the indefatigability of Western Australian nut cases, even if they are somewhat endearing.

  jessicafischerqueen: <Doggimus> yes I will always remember Stan, and his apparently indefatigable son Liam.

I particularly remember your theory on what those mysterious lights were:

"I think they are Seraphim."

Wicked.

Jul-16-11  hoodrobin: <Thanh Phan> and <JFQ> thanks for the article by Kasparov. I liked this one: <Fischer ... playing chess against himself>, not original perhaps, but true for true players.
Jul-16-11  Thanh Phan: <hoodrobin> Are welcome, like the thought and article also, most times me think that self is the one most able to challenge you, as you can't hide. lol

Hoot! Always great to see you, thanks for dropping by. Yes Kasparov comes through with another incisive analysis of Bobby Fischer, and chess itself, for that matter.

Jul-16-11  hoodrobin: <Thanh Phan> Yes, lol, but a deep thinking lol!
Jul-16-11  hoodrobin: <jess> your Profile and Forum and Videos are always a golden source of incisive analysis.

  LIFE Master AJ: http://www.chessmetrics.com/cm/CM2/...

Its not surprising to see names like:

# 1.) Mikhail Botvinnik;
# 2.) David Bronstein;
# 3.) Vassily Smyslov;

and then (much later)
# 4.) Mikhail Tal.

But did you know the U.S.'s own S. Reshevsky also takes up a good portion of that list?

  LIFE Master AJ: Of course, just about every chess fan has seen Fischer vs Spassky, 1972, [Game # 6 of their epic FIDE World Championship Match.]; but have you ever been to my web page on this game? (http://www.lifemasteraj.com/old_af-...)

There is a FREE CB download on that page, if you unzip it, open it and print it out, it runs over 15 pages!

Jul-17-11  hms123: <jess> I just sent you a quick emu with a link to an important cultural phenomenon. It's a children's book that is not suitable for children.

  jessicafischerqueen: <AJ> yes I was aware of <Sammy's> prominence in many of the chessmetrics stats- and I believe them to be accurate.

Everybody forgets to remember <Samuel Reshevsky>- he was monstrous in the 1940s and didn't actually slow down at all.

He got overshadowed by Bobby- but when that happened <Reshevsky> was in no way "losing his playing strength."

Bobby was just that good.
