"Play the board AND the man ! ".
But mostly the board.
Was born in Elsinore,Denmark,1953.And I am still proud of it.As I hope everyone is proud of hers/his startingpoint.

In many aspects life and chess do mirror each other IM experience. As science and belief goes hand in hand.So many "rules of thumbs" and many "exceptions" from the rule. I do agree with Bent Larsen who once said that someone who cannot contain a paradoxe is not using the full capacity of his brain.Actually I am convinced that there are no parodoxes, but perspectives which are more bright or flexible than others...

Though some obviously are borned under more easygoing circumstances than others,I will second our esteemed fellowkibitzer <zarg> who underlines that "luck" is also somehing that we create ourselves. Ourselves, but also together IM experience.
I try to live my life as if Jesus or Buddha knocked on the door , I would wellcome them as friends . And if they didn´t show up, it would be fine anyway.

Feb-09-19  morfishine: <achieve> Your codfish recipe is a great coincidence: Recently, I picked up 2 LBS of wild caught codfish and it has been waiting lonely in the freezer, wondering what will become of it: now I know!

Feb-09-19  achieve: Thank you so much <virginmind> for the warm welcome and kind words, also extended to <moro> and <morfishine>!

The story about your musical development is very touching and I literally want to hear more about it!

Sorry to cut this post short atm, but I will come back later today, for sure.

Feb-10-19  virginmind: <achieve> Well, I used to hum around now and then since some 6-7 years already and one day I said to myself: hey, this is new stuff, I'm a composer! :) Then, as all those snippets were lost, I once recorded myself whistling the tune, just for fun. Then I did it again, and here I am with 50 33-5 min. musical fragments.

I did send a couple of them to a family friend in other town who happen to play the piano(and also composed/recorded a classical piece) and (although some were hardly audible) she liked them and advised me to quickly look for specialized training. She even gave me the phone number of a musical teacher in Iasi she knew, but in the end I didn't call him - I guess out of shyness. I mean, come on, at 54, I start to compose and whistle music...how does this sound like? But I might still call him.

Anyway, as I think I already told you a few years ago, I've always loved music (and been told that I have very good musical ear/hearing).

  moronovich: Good evening <virginmind> !

Its been a while and I sincerely hope you are doing OK !?..

Her its kind of prespring - very early-and if I forget about global warming it is also quite charming to hear the blackbird again and the lower temperatures added with sunshine and a late(r) sunset. But I can not-at least not all the time ):

Wife is safely sleeping at the couch while I am preparing some neverseenbefore chicken dish :) Besides from some pressure in my breast/lounges,health is in the better end and tomorrow another chess event is taken place.Just after this crazy woman tournament were the play did swing as a sail in a storm...Busssiness as usual I suppose. But rather interesting and refreshing.

Tommorow I may go and see JWH.It has been a while and I long to exchange all kind of ideas and feelings with him.
Last time we fell in good company with some youngsters and it was a brilliant time with a lot of laughter and seriuosness.Good to see the youth still kicking and alive!

That was it.Food is calling and I am lokking forward to hear from you and send you,and Maria, meanwhile all the best wishes.

Take care !

Feb-21-19  virginmind: Good morning <moronovich>! A lot of springtime days passed over here and about time for tomorrow, as they say,for winter to strike back. With a decrease of 20 degrees in temperature. Maybe elsewhere in the country, but I hope not in dear old Iasi. But as of now, great spring when I look outside the window.

Both Maria and me had gotten a bit of cold, I should be OK by now but she's still recovering. Do send my regards to JWH as always, please. I really envy you that you get to have such fine moments time and again with your friend. Sometimes friendship is everything.

What about chess? Well, it's Aeroflot and St. Louis, so quite a lot around the corner. Hugs for you and Hannah and have an excellent middle of the week!

moronovich: Good afternoon my dear <virgimind> !

Always nice to hear from you and I see a cold wind is comming your way from Russia. Not always good news when Putin is involved ):.but I would prefer that to this,to some degree(no pun intended)hysterical prespring which has arrived way too early here in DK IMNSHO...

And I will send my regards to JWH as we soon shall meet at our stemplace (together with an irish one too)"Kleine Bierstube".You can google it if you like.It is located in 8000 Aarhus.

Hopefully by now you,and especially Maria, are about to getting rid of that nasty cold.---Sometime it feels strange how long it can last..

Moro is signing off with all the best wishes for the weekend.

And the players in Moscow are bound to make all the moves by themselves, without me cheering in the background ;)

HOKA HEY.

Feb-24-19  morfishine: Holy smokes <moronovich> The WWD paid 45-1 odds, this saved me from a -3K round. Sometimes luck is what we need!

  moronovich: Great <morfishine> !

Great save or as we say in Danish "One mans bread is another mans death".I would have netted 2.5K if WWW would have occured, but OTH quite far away.So some catching up work it seems ;)

Always another tomorrow
and all the best to you in the meantime!

Feb-27-19  morfishine: Nice playing <moronovich>! Now, we can't let you get too far away

  moronovich: Thanks <morf> !

Sorry to hear about your accident yesterday ): (I sincerely mean it,though you are supposed to be my main rival).

But with many rounds to go,the race is still wide open !

Feb-27-19  morfishine: <Moronovich> I was very lucky to only lose 3k CB! But it works both ways I guess: in the fall leg I accidentally bet 2,000 CBS's on a single game when I meant 200, but I won a bunch anyways! Lol

A zero is not only a zero….

I have tried the same, but prefer the old fashioned way :)

Mar-06-19  virginmind: Heya <moronovich>! Hope all is well at your side of the road. Flu's gone for both of us and spring's lurking outside, although today's a tad cloudy. Warm, especially in the next days. Some rain today, but you never know. Almost no wind. Birds have begun their well known concerts. So all seem pretty much well around here. I wonder if it's the same at your place. I'd guess winds are stronger there, given the sea proximity, or am I wrong? But best not talk about winds to a well-hardened sailor...;) I'm sure you had your share plenty, and more!

Blessings.

moronovich: Heja <virginmind> with the brilliant handle !

The old sailor hears a lot of wind these days, but not mor than I will go and see PK after his work today. We also share "Kleine Bierstube" as one of our favourite places.

And you have both recovered from the cold/flu ! That is definately great news.Internal spring !?…. My personal trick to avoid flus is trying to never freeze.Feeling cold is alright.Freezing not.(Kind of thin line between the two:) I rarely catch a cold nor a flu (knock wood).

Do you have any plans for the weekend ?
Or just enjoying you new state of body/mind ?

As mentioned,I go for PK today, otherwise there gonna be some chess as a voyeur :)And may be a small trip to the seaside with my dear Hannah !

I send you both my best wishes for the new weekend and looking forward to hear from you again !

Still a lot to play for.

Mar-10-19  Dr Winston OBoogie: I know. If the bookie does a P4 someone could come out of nowhere. I doubt anyone will catch you now, you're <always> up there or thereabouts :)

  moronovich: Hi <Mark> !

If I undeerstood you correctly it was your birthday, the other day.So congratulations from here !

4 of the most interesting players of all times born in the same sign as you : Bent Larsen,Topalov,Fischer,Ivanchuk. Quite a gang I would say ;)

About the bookie game.Nothing is settled yet. If,for the arguments sake, say I did nothing from now,I´ll say 50-50.But we shall see.

Mar-11-19  Dr Winston OBoogie: Aww thank you, moronovich. My birthday was last week and even though I had a good drink it was more to kill the pain of reaching my mid 40s, lol. I don't celebrate my birthday because it's just a year closer to death. I'm morbid like that 🤷‍♂. I think you've got this championship leg sewn up but I'm going to have a good go trying to catch up :)
Mar-11-19  morfishine: Hello Dear <moronovich>! Well played so far during the Championship leg! An unfortunate poor stretch for me, but I'm looking forward to our discussion on our respective strategies, but only after the Championship is finished!

Best always,

I am your most obedient servant,
