 | | moronovich: Thank you ,much appreciated !
Did you know that in my later years,I actually played a lot of "Birds" over the board ? Take care and enjoy ! |
|
| May-14-20 | | virginmind: Willkommen, mein Freund! It lacks the English names of birds, but at least they give photos and their Latin corespondent. There are quite a few I was not aware of, in Romanian or otherwise. I never knew well that opening, only got to play it with white. But, as you know, I didn't put much effort in learning most of the openings. Tomorrow normal life starts here, at least partly. Let's see how we will adapt to it ;) Hugs. |

| May-17-20 | | morfishine: A song to enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUo... |
|
May-17-20
 | | moronovich: Thanks for the song <morf> ! It is a great one and a wonderful voice of Don Williams. |
|
| May-17-20 | | morfishine: Dear <moronovich> I am so glad you enjoyed this song! We have a country station on Sunday morning "Sunday morning, coming down" which plays great, old country songs |
|
| May-24-20 | | virginmind: Hi again and sorry: only got to play Bird with black, of course, as 1.f4 is Bird and this never crossed my mind trying with white. There was mostly a guy at the club I used to go some 15 years ago playing it, and when baffled I asked him what was that, he said: Bird! :) We went to Pancesti yesterday and it was perfect for a first 'relaxation' trip, fantastic weather coupled with incredible fresh air gave us the long needed boost, after two months and a half of mostly indoors living. I hope you're fine. Have a cool weekend! |
|
May-24-20
 | | moronovich: Salutes my dear !
1.f4 is also a rare bird ;),on the board, but it is definately playable and often leads to a Dutch with colors reversed. Thanks once again for the link. And now I only the need the birds to show up,but I am shure some of them will. Wife and I also showed up today at the seaside enjoying a little ice cream and the silent rain. Now it is Magnus and Dubov and a lot going on,on the boards. Things are ok here, but my god how I miss going to town and soon I will ! Basta . So you broke the spell yesterday by going to Pancesti ?....I m glad to hear it all turned out well.Man is not constructed to live in caves forever:)….
Meanwhile Karjakin is down 0-2 !
Take care my friend and send also lot of hugs to Maria ! See you down the road. |
|
| May-27-20 | | morfishine: Good evening dear <moronovich> good to see you lingering near the top of the bookie game, but did you see the dangerous <wallytherhino>? Looks like he's back in form, now I will have to double my bets to keep up with that tornado! lol I hope all is well with <CountWedgemore>! Good night!, morf |
|
May-27-20
 | | moronovich: Good evenig to you Dear <morfishine> ! Yes,we must keep an eye on this tornado, but at the same time:there is still a long way to the finish line … Also I hope all is well with the <Count> and I sent him an email 2 days ago. Hope you are doing fine and enjoying life (as much as possible during the corona). Stay safe and see you down the road.
And up too ! |
|
| May-30-20 | | virginmind: Hi! Such a refreshing feeling to start the weekend with the work requirements partly finished and with a finale waiting to be followed in Lindores! And who's to play there? Not good old Magnus, but his friend Hikaru! against Daniil Dubov, who beat none other than mighty Ding Liren! Wow! How can one not love chess? So, slowly but surely we're getting toward a time where Covid-19 will be, if not just a memory, at least less frightening. Or are we? Unfortunately (a lot of) people are still dying at the hands of the virus, and also a lot of suffering for those badly touched. Still, for most of the countries in Europe there's a descending trend in casualities. In America too, with some exceptions though (Mexico and Brazil). Quite a lot of rainy days here lately, I don't even remember so many dark ones by the end of May. How about at your place? And how are you and Hannah? Welcoming the weekend with a smile? Preparing to go tomorrow for a light drink by the seaside? :)
And I take it your health is ok? No problems here too. Arrivederci! |

Jun-03-20
 | | moronovich: Good afternoon my dear !
You are rigth about the final and it is happening right now with Dubov in the lead.Quite a refreshing fellow to follow ! Glad to realize you also are opening up the country with hopefully the worst case scenarious are over-knock wood. Here things are looking rather bright on the coronafront and it certainly seems that the governments firm and fast decissions have paid off. Was,for the first time since the start of march, with JWH on monday. And this was almost pure heaven to have a deeper communication with someone ells than me or wify.Very gratefull am I. That was it and it was good talking to you and hopefully all is well on your side !? Say hello to Maria too and hugs to both of you.
På gensyn !
p.s.:Read in "Politiken" a very respected danish newspaper, that the scientists have found something new against sclerosis. But I can not make links and couldn´t google it.Sorry. |
|
| Jun-03-20 | | morfishine: Good evening dear <moronovich> ! One thing I admire about you is you keep your forum up to date and answer inquiries I have nothing special for today other than I hope for fair breezes and smooth seas for your journey |
|
Jun-03-20
 | | moronovich: Good evening to you as well my Dear <morfishine> ! Good to hear from you again and I hope as well that the wind will fill your sails, old sailor, and the sun will shine on your ways. And in a great fantasyland we sit in a cool bar, both on the right side of a pint.
"Waiter,two more,please.This is a moment to remember". |
|
| Jun-05-20 | | morfishine: I can hardly wait for the next MC tournament Dear <moronovich> ! Two weeks of fun from June 20 - July 5 You are hanging tough, good luck! |

Then I realized, I WAS stronger>
Good evenig Dear <morfishine> ! Great observation.
I think I know the feeling.Something like the spell is broken.A burden has beeen lifted. And you are the one who knows.
Keep on sailing. The wind has always been there. |
|
| Jun-09-20 | | morfishine: Dear <moronovich> We are now repaired to the sea for a few days The re-charging of one's body cannot be overstated The energy sap over time cannot be overstated
These things cannot be measured
If I catch a fish, I will send you a picture |
|
Jun-10-20
 | | moronovich: Morning Dear <morfishine> ! Right,recharging cannot be overstated !
Looking forward to them fish pictures.
Is it the mullit run ? |
|
| Jun-10-20 | | morfishine: Good morning dear <mornovich> no, the mullet run occurs in the fall, usually in October when the northern waters become too cold for the mullet, so they head to Florida I am glad you asked that because there is an interesting side light to the massed migration of feeder or bait fish. My daughter and I used to follow the movements of great white sharks through the tagging site: https://www.ocearch.org/tracker/?list We would follow the sharks, which have names like Mary Lee, Catherine and Helena, while they moved up and down the East Coast of the US. I've lived in Florida since the early 1970's but didn't realize so many female Great White sharks moved south then around Miami into the Gulf of Mexico to have their 'pups' or babies. The sharks had a marked tendency to follow the schools of mullet which had attracted larger predators, which in turn provided just what the sharks were looking for: Large amounts of good size fish to eat And a pregnant great white has a voracious appetite! |
|
Jun-11-20
 | | moronovich: Good evening Dear <morfishine> ! And thank you for the link to shark routes.Very interesting and I´ll try to return and it is warming my fathers heart to see it is something you share with your daughter.
Saw also the mullet run which is quite impressing.
Somehow I have a need for fish and chips right now :) Take care and see you around ! |
|
| Jun-12-20 | | morfishine: Well <moronovich> the fishing was really good! We've seen during this quarantine how all types of animals around the world have re-occupied areas formerly used by humans. This includes fish! The surf was full of fish! I had something like 10 good hits over 3 hours but only landed 3 fish: a whiting, a black drum and a pompano. This was the first time in years that I used up all my bait in one turn! Next time I will need to refine what type of hook to use to hopefully improve my catch rate. My wife has the pictures so once she forwards to me I can send to you |
|
Jun-14-20
 | | moronovich: Good catch <morf> ! Looking forward to the pcitures!
And could imagine it was a fish party in the evening !? Or did they go into the fridge ? Nothing(or almost nothing;)beats the feeling of newly hooked fish on a string. |
|
| Jun-19-20 | | morfishine: Sorry Dear <moronovich> no pictures yet Only one fish, the Black Drum, was big enough to keep and eat, but he looked at me with those sad, soulful, but defiant eyes, that displayed what a great battle it was to catch him, so I released him |
|
| Jun-20-20 | | virginmind: Hi my dear, it's been a while since I didn't see that much rain in June, I remember back in 1992 it poured almost all month...Now we only got 20 days past, so you never know. Anyway, it's Saturday afternoon and still raining, seriously now, what are they up to? Could it be a natural reaction after 3-4 months of decrease in pollution? We need to do some research on this. So we mostly manage to continue living over here, waiting for the virus to go away, only that it doesn't. The number of cases somehow continues to rise each day in the past week or so, although it was expected to decrease. Looks like all we can do is wait and see, besides, of course, observing the well known precautionary measures. Of course I continue to play chess time and again. Magnus managed to win again, but no surprise here. I hope you're well and that you quit smoking long time ago. Have an excellent weekend! |
