| Dec-11-11 | | Jim Bartle: How about George Foster for Frank Duffy in 1971? They had a great outfield, all young and strong, no need for a Foster, right? Or Felipe Alou and Ed Bailey to the Braves for Crandall, Hendley and Shaw? |
| Dec-11-11 | | hangingenprise: <wannabe> chicago and denver is the big game today! since <phonys> lions are laying the wood to the viks, and the raiders are at mvp rodgers, an important game for both teams. who cares about the cowgirls! |
| Dec-11-11 | | Travis Bickle: <Phony Benoni: <Travis> Haven't been keeping up with the Winter Meetings since it looks like the Tigers won't be active. Have the Cubs considered signing the entire Yankees roster?> Yes Theo did but he didn't offer enough $$$$$$$$$$$$, besides the Yanks didn't win it all last season. ; P |
Dec-11-11
 | | WannaBe: That Min-Det game is getting a bit too 'interesting' for <Phony Benoni>'s taste... 4th down and 1, 2 minutes warning. |
Dec-11-11
 | | WannaBe: They sure made the ending interesting... |
Dec-11-11
 | | Phony Benoni: Ending typical of the game. Minnesota turned the ball over at least twice on the last play, and Detroit got away with a facemask penalty. |
| Dec-11-11 | | Jim Bartle: PP: I didn't know the Giants had traded Lockman in the fifties. He was on the roster their first year in SF, so I figured he'd been there all along. He was the #3 first baseman, I guess, behind Cepeda and Bill White. He must have been pretty good, keeping McCovey down on the farm. |
| Dec-11-11 | | Jim Bartle: Tebow: 3-16 for 45 yards? Come on. |
| Dec-11-11 | | Jim Bartle: Now Denver kicks a 59-yard FG to tie on the last play. Did Tebow kick it? |
Dec-11-11
 | | WannaBe: <JB> He got hot, he is now 18-36, 208 yds, with 65.5 passer rating, going to OT!! |
Dec-11-11
 | | WannaBe: The magic of Tebow continues!! Denver wins it 13-10 OT. Sure ain't pretty... |
| Dec-11-11 | | hangingenprise: is that loud crashing sound coming from mr. bickles t.v. being thrown
from a height that is detrimental
to its structure? and is it safe to
visit his form? |
| Dec-11-11 | | hangingenprise: i just heard the crash!! |
| Dec-11-11 | | hangingenprise: mvp rodgers took care of the sadders. |
Dec-11-11
 | | sleepyirv: I don't think I can watch the Bears again until Jay Culter comes back or they fire Lovie Smith. And against the Broncos with all this insane coverage on Tebow... sigh... At least the Cubs got Epstein and Santo finally got in or I would be completely sports demoralized and would start watching professional synchronized swimming or curling. |
| Dec-11-11 | | Jim Bartle: 3-16 to start, 18-24 to finish.
Tal wrote that he lost the first game of tournaments so often that he thought he'd solve the problem by just showing up on the second day. Maybe the Broncos should just put Tebow in during the 4th quarter. He's Blandaing the league. |
Dec-11-11
 | | WannaBe: One team in the AFC West, have finally scored more points than allowed!!! Denver: 8-5, -33
Oakland: 7-6, -64
Chargers: 6-7, +25
Kansas City: 5-8, -132 |
Dec-11-11
 | | Phony Benoni: There are two possible scenarios for the World five years from now: 1) Tim Tebow, Cam Newton, and probably Robert Griffin III will be hailed at The New Era of Quarterbacks, and guys like Drew Brees or Tom Brady will be thought of as immobile dinosaurs. 2) Tim Tebow will be a frequent guest on Christian Broadcasting Network talk shows, describing Life after Football. I don't think the first is at all unlikely. These guys are not the little scatback quarterbacks, but big guys who could almost play tight end. As long as they don't overdo the running, their style could be effective. At any rate, no matter what you think of Tebow's skill as a quarterback, the guy is clearly a leader. Sort of appropriate that Joe Kapp was back in the news for 15 minutes. |

Dec-11-11
 | | OhioChessFan: <hep: is that loud crashing sound coming from mr. bickles t.v. being thrown from a height that is detrimental to its structure? and is it safe to visit his form?> Beware of crazed cab drivers in Chicago |
Dec-11-11
 | | keypusher: 19 punts total! Prater kicked a 59-yarder to tie with 2 seconds left and a 51-yarder in OT. Gould hit a 57-yarder for the Bears. Maybe they should have given everyone but the specialists the day off. I'm sure Marion Barber would be down with that... http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/n... |
Dec-11-11
 | | Phony Benoni: Yeah, the Bears gave that one away. Even taking the injuries into account, this could spell the end for the current coaching staff. By the way, I'm rooting for the Cowboys tonight. The loser of the game likely competes with the Lions for a wild card, so I'd rather it was the Giants with their worse record. |
Dec-11-11
 | | WannaBe: Well, it is the ol' Mile High Altitude, kickers love it there, maybe they should treat the football differently, like they do with baseball. |
| Dec-11-11 | | Jim Bartle: My guess is that Tebow will end up playing another position in a year or two. He could be a fullback or a tight end. In the 70s some tough college QBs like Jack Mildren and Nolan Cromwell even ended up playing safety in the NFL. |
Dec-11-11
 | | WannaBe: BTW, did anyone splurge and purchase a share of the Green Bay Packers stock?? Either for themself, or for a loved one, or just so you can say <I'm a part owner of an NFL team> at your local watering hole? |
| Dec-11-11 | | Jim Bartle: I was going to buy GB stock a few years ago, but when the 49ers stole Alex Smith from them in the draft and they were stuck with taking Aaron Rodgers, I decided to forget it. |
