Apr-05-08 | | notyetagm: Position after 43 ♕e4-d3? ♗c3-d4!!
click for larger viewWhat a beautiful way to beat a top grandmaster like Topalov, 43 ... ♗c3-d4!!. |
Jul-09-08 | | mmmsplay10: 43.??? white to move and mess up the game big time. |
Jul-09-08 | | Hector Maluy: Why not 8)..Qxb2? Sometimes it does work. However in this case I see that white can have advantage if black takes pawn: 8)..Qxb2?
9)Rb1 Qa3
10)Bxb8 Rxb8
11)Bxc6+ and white looks better here.
What do you think?

Jul-11-08 | | Ulhumbrus: <notyetagm: ...Nisipeanu's brilliant 43 ... c3-d4!! then hits the nail on the head, showing Topalov the error of his last move. The tactical point is that neither the White e3-bishop nor the White e2-knight actually <DEFENDS> the d4-square since they are =both= tied down to the defense of the f4-square, trying to prevent a <DOUBLE ROYAL KNIGHT FORK> on that square.> Bravo! |
Jun-15-09 | | Bobsterman3000: How did Nisipeanu manage to win after the colossal blunder 1...d5 ?? :-) |

It was worth waiting for! |

Apr-26-17 | | Autoreparaturwerkbau: <brazil chess: Well took me a long time to figure out a winning move here 48... Kh4 49.Qf3!! is that the way to go?> I can't find mate, too. In your line, how can black proceed to the end? |
Apr-26-17 | | mike1: 48. Kh4 fxe6... Black is a bishop up |
Apr-26-17 | | Eusebius: Very interesting game. White seemed to be on top until he overstretched. A lot to analyse I guess. Many thanks for this. |
Apr-26-17 | | mruknowwho: I thought White wasted too much time with his light square bishop throughout the game. Even in the opening; if your opponent is playing the Scandinavian Defense, what is the point of developing a bishop in a fianchetto type of manner? Why not take the fastest route to development possible in light of the Scandinavian? |
Apr-26-17 | | catlover: Neither of the players in named "Randy". Then I thought maybe the pun had to do with the name of the defense, but no (I wonder whose defense Gubinsky melted?). Just wondering if someone can explain the pun. |
Apr-26-17 | | ChessHigherCat: <catlover: Neither of the players in named "Randy". Then I thought maybe the pun had to do with the name of the defense, but no (I wonder whose defense Gubinsky melted?). Just wondering if someone can explain the pun.> I think it's supposed to be "Hot Scandinavian", based on the opening. Get it AHAAA HA HA? ....HA HA? ...ha? |

Apr-26-17 | | morfishine: Case closed: Most moronic game title ever

Apr-26-17 | | thegoodanarchist: <catlover: Neither of the players in named "Randy". Then I thought maybe the pun had to do with the name of the defense, but no.> Seems that "Scandy" is short for Scandinavian Defense. |
Apr-26-17 | | Toniera: A beautiful end: 48 Kh4 Qh2 50 Bh3 Ng2+ 51 Kg4 QxB 52 KxQ Nf4+ winning the white queen and -easily- the game. |
Apr-26-17 | | Toniera: Sorry about my mistakes in the move numbers. |
Apr-26-17 | | catlover: <ChessHigherCat><thegoodanarchist> Thanks. I get it now. I must be pun challenged. |
Apr-26-17 | | ChessHigherCat: <catlover> Its not your fault, it really is a terrible "pun". Another thing you should know is that "randy" is UK slang for horny, but that doesn't make any sense in relation to the game and there's not even an existing phrase "Randy Scandy", so it's more of a half-meaning (at best)than a double-meaning. |
Apr-26-17 | | ColeTrane: Alright <morfishine> I do agree with you this time.... |

 | | offramp: <Garech: Very pretty game; will try and think up a pun!
-Garech>
Garech, I am afraid your pun has received a bit of a thumbs-down from the chessgames jury. But do not be discouraged! Do not slacken in your efforts! Onwards and upwards to the top! |
Apr-27-17 | | Bruce Graham: Randy? Scandy? Not fine or dandy. When chess openings are horny, our minds have gone. |
