Nov-11-10 | | Strongest Force: Thx for this very insane gane cg.com |
Nov-11-10 | | Eyal: As far as I recall, the ...Nf3+ idea was a bombshell when played in Svidler vs Topalov, 2005, but today it's already run-of-the-mill... |
Nov-11-10
 | | moronovich: Seems like we could be going from one moverepetition to another.. |
Nov-11-10 | | malthrope: From the previous game Shirov-Aronian now drawn .
<Ulhumbrus: On the matter of the draw, Ivkov said that Bobby Fischer had said that if the Marshall counter-gambit was sound, the Ruy Lopez had seen its days.> Speaking of which I witnessed this game 'live' at the Piatigorsky Cup in 1966: Fischer vs Spassky, 1966 - which was drawn on the 35th move. Also, Bobby and Boris played another 'Ruy Lopez, Closed, Smyslov variation' at the Olympiad in Havana during the sane year: Fischer vs Spassky, 1966 - which was also drawn this time on the 57th move. The "Ruy Lopez" is clearly a hard nut to crack! <*wink*> As to the selection of the next 'live' game to be presented here either Naka-Wang Hao or Karjakin-Gris would suit me just fine! ;) Ah, "Karjack-Gris" it is! ;)
Thanks <CG.com> ! :D - Mal |

Nov-11-10
 | | moronovich: <Eyal> you are right.it is no loger a bombshell,unfortunately . |
Nov-11-10 | | malthrope: <Eyal: As far as I recall, the ...Nf3+ idea was a bombshell when played in Svidler vs Topalov, 2005, but today it's already run-of-the-mill...> I watched that game played 'live' on the Internet... It was very exciting to watch! ;) |
Nov-11-10 | | Eyal: <mal> Yeah, I remember watching it live as well... exciting days in San Luis 2005. |
Nov-11-10
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <chessgames.com> Again, the player should be Sergey Karjakin, not Karjakin. ;-) |
Nov-11-10
 | | moronovich: <mal> Yes,it was very exciting then.As also could be the case if they play it all out today.(If I were Karkain,I would be satisfied with a perpetual). |
Nov-11-10 | | malthrope: <Eyal: <mal> Yeah, I remember watching it live as well... exciting days in San Luis 2005.> Yeah <Eyal>, it sure was an exciting time. :) GM Topalov was in the 'zone' during the first half of the San Luis tourney. Then held his own in the 2nd half in coast mode. ;) |
Nov-11-10
 | | moronovich: and Tom Waits on the audio from Moscow-------doesn´t get better than this !! |
Nov-11-10 | | Eyal: Btw, if you think Shirov-Aronian was a lot of theory, here the first new move was 30.Qf8+; until that point they were following the game Vachier Lagrave - Edward from last year, where VL played 30.Qxb7 and won after a few moves due to some tactical blunders by his opponent. |
Nov-11-10 | | Marmot PFL: White would have to get his pieces placed for an attack on black's king. Black can win the ending if queens are off. Neither one is going to allow these things to happen so probably draw. |
Nov-11-10 | | turbo231: I can't believe cg.com switched to the Karjakin game and not Naka. |
Nov-11-10 | | malthrope: moronovich: <mal> Yes,it was very exciting then.As also could be the case if they play it all out today.(If I were Karkain,I would be satisfied with a perpetual).> Absolutely! :P If Gris ever gets his King safe it's gonna be rolling pawns strolling down the Queenside! ~lol~ And, Gris has loads of time too! =) PS: In the <ChessBookie> game had to place a modest bet on Gris since the odds were so bloody good! Hehehe... ;) |
Nov-11-10 | | Eyal: Looks like this one is going to end shortly as well: Grischuk is going for the perpetual. |
Nov-11-10 | | Eyal: Just to illustrate the dangers in the position: 33...Qxg2?? would have lost on the spot to 34.Nd4. |
Nov-11-10 | | malthrope: <Eyal: Looks like this one is going to end shortly as well: Grischuk is going for the perpetual. Well, we can't have everything... The 'Naka-Wang Hao' game is a dunk slam replacement! :P |
Nov-11-10 | | Ulhumbrus: Perhaps Black's main problem has been that because his King has been exposed to attack, it has been difficult for him to advance his two connected passed pawns on the Queen side, so as to make them count. |
Nov-11-10
 | | moronovich: <mal> Me too , 200 on Grischuk ;) |
Nov-11-10
 | | tpstar: <here the first new move was 30.Qf8+> Handy draw line! |
Nov-11-10 | | Strongest Force: Wang Hao got BBB <big brass balls> and that is his foundation for some impressive extensive knowledge |
Nov-11-10 | | malthrope: <moronovich: <mal> Me too , 200 on Grischuk ;)> You lucky dog! :D I was much more modest... ;o |
Nov-11-10 | | Ulhumbrus: Perhaps Black's King needs to take a walk in order to have any chance of advancing his Queen side pawns. |
Nov-11-10 | | malthrope: <Ulhumbrus> I left a nice post for you re: the previous game 'Shirov-Aronian' which is at the begining here on page -1- :) |
