An Englishman: Good Evening: Easy, yes, but still beautiful. The opening features an interesting gambit, declined by Black for good reason: if 5...Nxh5; 6.e4,fxe4; 7.Rxh5,gxh5; 8.Qxh5+,Kf8; 9.Bh6 has scored well.
Aug-08-17  diagonalley: easy?! ... maybe... but it took me several minutes to spot it... (i also went for N-K8)
Aug-08-17  jffun1958: 4-mate:
24. Nb5+ Bxc6 (only move) 25. Na7+ Kc7 (only move) 26. exf5 e5 27. Bxe5#

took me 5 to 7 minutes.

Aug-08-17  paavoh: Lovely finish. Took a bit more time than with the usual Tuesday puzzle.

OhioChessFan: Kept looking for the Knight fork on e7 then realized Ne8 wins.
Aug-08-17  AlicesKnight: 24.Ne8+ forces ...Bxc6, on which 25.Nd6 brings a pretty version of the 2Ns mate with Black self-blocked and an elegant picture of cavalry to the fore.
Aug-08-17  morfishine: The ole one-two: <24.Ne8+> followed by <25.Nd6#>

I didn't notice 24.Nb5+, but no matter

*****

Aug-08-17  jffun1958: Now I see:
It is 2-mate:
24. Nb5+ Bxc6 (only move) 25. Nd6#
Aug-08-17  Tietie007: Nice mat.

Willber G: "Two knights the knight"
Aug-08-17  saturn2: Me too I only noticed the knight hopping Ne8+, Nd6++ I think the reasons are:

a) if I see a mate in 2 I dont consider anything else

b) one is led to regard forward moves before backward moves.

Aug-08-17  thegoodanarchist: Shanglei La
Aug-08-17  ChessHigherCat: When you type a name in Google plus the word "meaning", you get a million positive responses lighting up like "marriage/divorce" signs in Las Vegas but when you click on the link, here's what you get:

Name: Shakhriyar

Gender: Male

Usage: Shakhriyar is not a popular first name. It is more often used as a boy (male) name.

22...Nhxf6

Aug-08-17  BOSTER: Nh5xf6.
Aug-08-17  drollere: i also spent several minutes on this one. i wasted time looking at unblocking the bishops, etc., then found the 2-step knight lock.

i also went for Ne8+ and Nc6#. seemed more amusing to put the checking piece where the Q can't touch it.

a clever and remarkable mate, considering how far the K had to be herded to get into it.

Aug-08-17  Nosnibor: A very pretty and satisfying finish. Took me a few minutes to spot the mate.
Aug-08-17  King Harvest: Sweet mate. Black's 15...b6?! was a self-inflicted wound. By 18...Bxd4?! the wheels are coming off. Mamedyarov makes the finish beginning 19.Qa4! look easy.
Aug-08-17  LucB: What <OCF> said, minus the "then realized Ne8 wins".. :(
Aug-08-17  Iwer Sonsch: 24.Nb5+ Bxc6 25.Nd6#. Nice combination.
Aug-09-17  kevin86: White sacs the queen to mate with two knights!

Position after 25. Na7+ is as follows:

The given line from jffun1958 just doesn't work, as 25. ... Kc7 is ineligible-- the White Knight at e6 attacks c7. Also, there is an e5-Pawn already, so 26. ... e5 is another error.
