 | | tpstar: Ancient Chinese Riddle = Q: What is sound of mack beaten by stick? A: Wiggida Wiggida Wiggida WHACK Come on, you blimey limey, this is the one time of year you're supposed to regale us with your chronic bionic ebonic histrionic tonic-clonic alcoholic colic. Tell us perpetually tipsy adults exactly what we should be having tonight. Meanwhile, I'm sure the Kids Table will have lots of tasty non-alcoholic beverages for the boys to enjoy! ;>) |

Dec-31-04 | | yoozum: lol, last new year's (since russians celebrate new years with presents, and in our family, we each get a tiny present) i was pretty buzzed from all the wine/champagne from dinner, i dove over the couch to get to the presents. needless to say, that tipped my parents off... i just recieved How to Play the Queen's Gambit by a certain Mr. Kasparov, and it's quite good, i must say. Apart from kasparov's thick accent, him consistently stuttering, and him calling it the King's Gambit half the time, it's a terrific cd. |

Dec-31-04 | | hintza: <Apart from kasparov's thick accent, him consistently stuttering, and him calling it the King's Gambit half the time, it's a terrific cd> This reminds me of an interview I downloaded from http://www.chesscafe.com a long time ago. Kasparov's accent has apparently changed over time;
I have seen/heard various clips of him speaking English, and his accent is never the same twice. Personally I am very interested in his upcoming "How to Play the Najdorf" CD; surely there is no higher authority on the Najdorf than Garry Kasparov. |

Dec-31-04 | | vonKrolock: ..and a Happy New Yeo for All - so those that saw and dont my vows in the Café - a place where it could be missed - but (at least here) we can always send a message between Xmas, New Yeo and De Jesus,C ircumcision (nine days after X-mas) and the Wise Boris Men Day - that we call here the G Reis Magos ("The Magical Kings") - Yes - Magical Kings, Queens, Rooks, Bishops and Knights and Pawns to everybody in this Planet (And if You're sad or still waiting a message from one dear missing - Hope Hope Hope etc |
Dec-31-04 | | yoozum: <his accent is never the same twice.> i've also noticed this. i will also probably get the najdorf cd, as i play d4 as white and the sicilian as black. |
Dec-31-04 | | poktirity: You are supposed to drink champagne on New Years eve, beer is low-class ;) |
Dec-31-04 | | aw1988: I personally believe Kasparov gets abused way too much- how his books are filled with analytical errors, how he can't speak english properly, how he has gotten old and his chess has deteriorated... it makes me sick. Just sick. Bug off, and see if you can do any better. |
Jan-01-05 | | Dave Murray: <poktirity> That Belgian beer is sweet and tastes somewhat like champagne, except a lot better. |
Jan-01-05 | | aw1988: Was not targetting you. |
Jan-01-05 | | yoozum: sorry, i deleted my post because it was made in a moment of wrongly-instilled anger. sorry about that, once again :-) |
Jan-01-05 | | aw1988: tpstar, you must have been born with that sense of humour, I swear. |

Jan-01-05 | | vonKrolock: <poktirity> You're right, but the Directory dont' provides Champagne nor Sekt - and by the way, neither Vodka, Bourbon, Cachaça, Porto, Gin, Rum, Tequila etc etc - so after a champagne flute followed by some Beer s and a coup de Napoleon Bonaparte Cognac, we can kibitz in this page (And surely in the next morning, after The Kibitzer's Café pretty strong and sugarless - We're ready for some thought analysis and discussions... |

 | | Annie K.: Strip chess? OK, strip chess... well, if we're going to be non-PC, let's at least be practical about it; so far you have caught the interest of only half the population. Now, how about making it a whole lot more popular, and setting up a strip match between, say, Leko and Kosteniuk? Then (most of) you guys can root for Peter and (most of) us girls can root for Alexandra... hmmm... ;p |
Jan-01-05 | | yoozum: as long as leko wears this:
http://www.frankfurtwest.de/ChessCl...i can't say i'd mind ;-) |
Jan-01-05
 | | Annie K.: No problem - if he wears that, EVERYBODY will root for Alexandra! ;) |
Jan-01-05
 | | tamar: Gives the expression "down to bare kings" new meaning. I assume each player would wear 15 articles of clothing to start. |
Jan-01-05 | | DanielBryant: I would wear layers. |
Jan-01-05 | | yoozum: lol now that we're dealing with all this hoohaa, shouldn't we change her name to Almira Stripchenko? |
Jan-01-05 | | DanielBryant: Or she could marry Stripunsky. |
Jan-01-05 | | Dave Murray: <Cecil Brown>, Yeah..quick draws would be even more disappointing in strip chess.... |
Jan-02-05
 | | Annie K.: <Tamar>: Gives the expression "down to bare kings" new meaning. I assume each player would wear 15 articles of clothing to start. A very good suggestion. I suspect there wouldn't be any problem in finding sponsors for such a tournament; the major clothes and underwear/lingerie companies and fashion designers would be delighted to jump on the opportunity, provided the players wear their products (as long as possible) of course... but then the length of each garment's exposure would probably introduce interesting extra considerations into the game. ;) |
Jan-02-05 | | poktirity: I think it would be fairer if they played many blitz-games instead of removing clothing for each piece. A draw would of course count as a loss for both ;) |
Jan-04-05 | | PaddyAlekhine: <Annie K.> <no problem- if he wears that, EVERYBODY will root for Alexandra> I wouldn't... urgh.
What about a match between two of the Polgar sisters? |
Jan-06-05
 | | Annie K.: <PaddyAlekhine> You seem to have missed the point on both counts... LOL! |
