Feb-20-05  IngoBingo: Berndtsson was the creator and editor of a chess magazine - "Schackvärlden" ("The Chess World") from 1923 until his sudden death by stroke in 1943. This probably reduced his powers at the board, and Gideon Ståhlberg is reported to have branded Berndtsson's engagement in journalism as "the greatest waste in Swedish chess".
