  GrahamClayton: Interesting to see that Balparda's career ended in 1941, which coincided with the increase in the size of the player pool in Argentina due to all of those players who stayed on after the 1939 Chess Olympiad. Did he realise that he couldn't compete with all of these new arrivals?
