Despite having only a bishop for the queen, white got a winning position and finished the game by advancing his pawns quietly.

Oct-19-11  waustad: FIDE has a whole page of Gusevs and chessmetrics mentions 4 of them. It would be easy to mix them up.
Jan-17-19  SkySports: Don't we know anything else about this player? I couldn't find anything significant about him with a quick Google search...

Sep-30-21  SkySports: <stanleys: Some Russian players indicated that Mr. Gusev is still alive and celebrated his 100th birthday on 25 September! Happy belated birthday and best wishes to him!>

I had different info. According to this website (provided by Alexey 'Spectre' Zakharov, blogger on Chess.com) Gusev died in 2011: https://ruchess.ru/news/report/chto... (see the final table; Gusev in cyrillic is written '?????').

Sep-30-21  SkySports: It seems that cyrillic letters can't be represented here... Anyway it's row 7 in the final table.
Sep-30-21  stanleys: <SkySports> It's very strange, because there is no year of the death mentioned in the text before , simply (1921-?). Maybe there was a copy/paste from the previous line 6, about the player Gumerov, who died in 2011.

I will try to get confirmation by other sources whether Mr. Gusev is alive or not

Sep-30-21  SkySports: <stanleys: <SkySports> It's very strange, because there is no year of the death mentioned in the text before , simply (1921-?)>. You are right, maybe the table was added to the article at a later time? Anyway, if you can get any info by other sources, please let us know writing it here. It would be nice to know that Mr. Gusev is still among us...
