Feb-22-09    whiteshark: Wilhelm Ernst was born Aug 25, 1905 in Gelsenkirchen. He was one of Germany's most hopeful players during 30'/40'. He died July 23,1952 at the age of 48. Jan-20-11    GrahamClayton: Here is a nice tactic played by Ernst against Walter Loose at Hamburg in 1946: click for larger view Loose played 1...b2, and after 2.b2 c3+, thought he had won the White Queen. But Ernst turned the tables with 3.d2, as 3...b2 4.a5 leaves Black a rook down. Black resigned.
