Grandmaster (1999). Russian champion of 1993 with Eldar Mukhametov at Tjumen94 [rusbase-1] . Placed 2nd in Chigorin Memorial 1995. Shared winner in the Ukrainian Ch 1999. Russian vice champion 1999 (by being knocked out 2-0 by GM Konstantin Sakaev in the final). He qualified to play in the World Cup (2011) as a nominee of the Organising Committee, and faced Nikita Vitiugov in the first round. He drew both games of the classical game mini-match and in the tiebreaker he also drew the first two games of the rapid (25 minute) game tiebreaker. He finally lost in the 10 minutes rapid game tiebreaker to exit the tournament.
