Domdaniel: <dravid: It's pronounced <Hay-zeus> or some thing to that effect, not as in <Jesus Christ>.> It's exactly the same name, dravid. For historical reasons Spanish-speaking Christian societies use the name Jesus often, much as Muslims use Mohammed. It's seen as respectful. But in Anglo societies, 'Jesus' seems odd - even though the historical JC was called something like Yeshua ('Jesus' is the Greek translation) - and the names Joshua and Josh derive from the same source.
Aug-24-06  dravid: Oh I didn't know. Please excuse my ignorance.

This is how an International Chess Master handles data in one of the leading online advertising agencies

'.. If we were still working through unions and the internet was one of them, it could be said that Jesús Barón would be a master craftsman of the trade . He has practically developed his entire professional career around the web: from designing web pages to research.

..

Life has taken him to the world of ecommerce and advertising, but not the 'creative' parts: the success of his campaigns is not based on appealing to the user's emotions, but on managing traffic data well and knowing where and even how much a company must invest to achieve the highest possible return.

And this good eye for numbers and strategy may come from his chess profile: Barón is an IM in chess and has three Spanish champion titles under his belt.

..

What is technological about the advertising you do?

"We are not usual advertisers, graphic design or capturing the emotion of the user are not our pillars. We are [strictly] numerical, we are based on data and on obtaining that information that allows us to reach the profitability objectives set.

To make all this possible we use large advertising platforms ... not many years ago a 'small' company called Google had advertising as its main income, so this is now still one of the main tools that we use. There is also Facebook or LinkedIn. These both are 'monsters' at the level of advertisers, options and everything behind them. .." ..'
