Oct-18-21  Messiah: I still cannot change my password, this is going for a good 5-7 years now, or even a tiny bit more. Into the old password field I can write anything (I am dead certain that I am actually typing in the correct one), it does not let me to change it.

If necessary, I can inspect the underlying codebase, totally free of charge, and I can even help implementing a hash-based password scheme instead of the current <plaintext> based one, completely free of charge once again.

stevemcd87: <Messiah> Thanks for the offer.
We'd like to begin our "User Authentication" upgrade soon, after Gameloader update and Live events.
We're thinking of taking the steps to go "serverless"( https://aws.amazon.com/serverless/ ). If we decide to go the serverless route we will be utilizing Cognito ( https://aws.amazon.com/cognito/ ). You can read about the process at https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/mobile... .
I'll see if I can fix the current "password updater" before our migration.
Sorry for the delay.
Oct-23-21  Z truth 000000001: RE: <CG> Pun submissions

An interesting discussion concerning puns, with some of the feature's history, is currently ongoing on another forum.

For purposes of documentation a link to it is given here:

J Friedman vs Gulko, 1993 (kibitz #88)

The thread actually developed earlier, I picked the above starting point somewhat arbitrarily.

Oct-25-21  virginmind: Very strong Grand Swiss started today in Riga. Can we have a forum here, please? https://en.chessbase.com/post/grand...
Oct-25-21  technical draw: <virginmind>. Just checked out the Grand Swiss participants lists. Big names indeed. We could very well use a forum.
Oct-25-21  virginmind: <technical draw> Now I see the first round is on 27th. Apparently Nakamura, Grischuk, Mamedyarov, Rapport and Gujrathi withdrawn from the tournament, out of Covid-related concerns in Latvia (see the striken names on the list). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIDE_...

MissScarlett: He was separate to <Messiah>, wasn't he?
Oct-26-21  Everett: Hello Susan, how did this information come through?

Sad, especially since by his own admission had covid already, and took the jabs as well. I believe they were Pfizer.

This is terribly sad news.

I enjoyed interacting with Keyser and he will certainly be missed by his many friends on this site.

My condolences to his family and close friends.

Keyser!!

Back from the dead.

Good to know you're still alive and well but why would Finan or anyone play such a macabre joke?

Oct-28-21  Colonel Mortimer: What is the mechanic behind the imperative to prematurely announce the passing away of forum members based on rumours?

Yeah, not good.

Oct-28-21  Z truth 000000001: <<Mort> What is the mechanic ... ?>

Maybe it's quantum mechanics, where <KS> was in a mixed state, like Schordinger's cat.

Of course it would be oh-so-slightly-interesting to hear the back story of the contact, and what, if any, verification measures were taken before publication.

There's a lesson in vulnerability here, but I'm still mulling how to properly frame it in the larger context, constructively (if possible).

What's the alternative? Death certificates? Obituaries in the London <Times>?

Oct-28-21  Z truth 000000001: Wellness checks, or maybe the buddy system.
