MissScarlett: <jess>, you've got to hold off effectively trying to get <caisso> the boot. Firstly, for all we know, that income could be important to him and/or it could be putting <Miss Susan> in an uncomfortable position. Secondly, we shouldn't just be taking <Tab> or <StoneH>'s word for it that much, if not all, of what he's doing is damaging.

MissScarlett: <Ideally, you would want to break the jobs down into easily-accomplished tasks that almost anyone can do, for at least most of the work.>

I can envision <cg.com> being outsourced to India. Are there any IT professionals here who have a generally good opinion/experience of Indian workers?

WannaBe: Either good or bad opinions, all workers from all countries are the same, you get the really go-getters and you get the run-of-the-mill.

Seen some smart/brilliant IT professionals/engineers and seen some that makes me want to face-palm.

I will follow your advice, as usual. Thanks for explaining clearly, as you always do.

If I had that power (maybe I do, maybe I don't), I would delete this unresponsive, uncooperative, evasive non-answer.

There's already an error. In the, You Deserve A Break Today Open, it shows Big Mac, beating the Hamburglar. It was actually Mayor McCheese, beating Grimace.

Tabanus: Here are two Sunway Sitges 2021 versions:

A) Sunway Sitges Open (2021) (Tab's version of Jan. 2022)
B) https://web.archive.org/web/2021123... (CG's version of 31 Dec. 2021)

A is good enough for me. B is good enough for Susan, George and MissScarlett, who don't care as long as they can do their stuff.

  Tabanus: Another less extreme example:

A) Gashimov Memorial (2021)
B) https://web.archive.org/web/2021123... (CG's version of 31 Dec.)

B is good enough for Susan, George and MS, and those who are still here. It's good enough for the Rogoff politicians, and for those who study Razhkolnischuff's games from 1866. It may be good enough for Stonehenge as well, I don't know.

Tabanus: Sorry, the 82nd Armenian Championship (2022) is indeed the Armenian championship - the "highest league" as they call it. I was sure CG had picked the wrong event again, but the "1st league" event was played in August last year. I bet you knew that already?
Jan-14-22  TheBirdman33: <Tab> Some of the pages you edited are the Gold standard Deluxe, just a look at the Linares 1991 page is proof of that, superlative intro and background info, ---- yet it garnered only 5 kibitzes... The website here has limited time to produce acceptable tournament pages, out of necessity, as in available manpower and time limitations, to even come close to a Linares 1991 page, meaning the bar will have to be placed lower, there is no other way.

Of course there is a minimal standard that many here want to see being upheld, but that becomes more difficult as each day passes, just a sign of the times, and indeed a challenge to deal with, emotionally, as there are different persons with different agenda's in on this. And those will see those things differently for whatever reason, and we have to accept that. As tough and hard as it often feels, that is the situation we are faced with, regardless of where you personally come from.

Personally, I admire your ambition to aim, and organize, for a high bar.

Tabanus: <TheBirdman33> It's a long time now since I wrote Linares (1991). It is not necessary, and I decided to speed it up - in the style of Sunway Sitges Open (2021) since almost nobody else will write intros.

<Of course there is a minimal standard that many here want to see> I think so too.

What's a minimum standard then. Perhaps this: 1) enough games added to make a meaningful standings table, 2) standings sorted according to official result, 3) game results checked (wrong game results are easily spotted after sorting), 4) a statement on when and where the event was played, and the time control, and 5) a note on who won. With some practice, this does not take too long time.

I'd add a little more than that. But CG never do any of this with the new events. Every intro you see is made afterwards (sometimes years after) by volunteer editors.

I thought it a witty remark, with the neccessary prerequisite - i.e. the sting of truth.

If there's any insult, it's not to <Stonehenge>.

Jan-14-22  trumpreallydumped: (Aside...)

Hmmm, I wonder who <TheBirdman33> really is?

Or rather was.

Clearly very knowledgeable about <CG> and chess it seems, and yet only a member for not yet a month.
