Dec-15-12  notyetagm: Wow, MVL won the blitz tournament with a huge score and now he stats <7/7> in the rapid.

Egads

Dec-16-12  Maatalkko: MVL is one of the quickest thinkers in the world. I have not seen anyone spot tactics as frequently in 1 minute games, even Nakamura. Nak will outplay people bit by bit, whereas MVL will have an equal position but then boom boom boom and it's over.

Yep, <BOOM!> is a good way to describe an MVL 1-minute game.

Dec-16-12  Ezzy: Alexey Dreev, joint first on points in the European Rapids, AND chosen for chessgames.com game of the day.

Dreev getting his well deserved 15 minutes of fame.

Dec-17-12  notyetagm: Tremendous success for <MVL> this weekend: he won outright 1st in the blitz and finished =1st in the rapid.

HeMateMe: are these five minute games? What are the controls?

Congrats to La Grave.

He got to draw with Transwarp engine in the ICC once- quite an achievement.

TransWarp (Computer)

But the dude got trounced by Wesley in the ICC blitz way back in 2009 when Wesley was only 16, hence one of his two handles was Wesley 16. Mateus was Lagrave's handle.

The score was 10 wins, 1 loss and 2 draws in Wes' favor. Wes used the foster handle during their duel.

You can refer to the games here:

Dec-17-12  parisattack: Sicilian Kan did very well and some interesting Dutch defenses.
Dec-17-12  magnifico: < And this is what happened when they played real chess: W So vs M Vachier-Lagrave, 2012>

This one one was a fluke. I mean 1:0

The ICC match was total domination in display. I mean 10:0.

perfidious: <magnifico>, aka <tolenboy>, aka who knows how many other handles, simply cannot accept reality: his horse actually lost a game of chess.

When young Wesley ascends to the elite, further doses of reality await. Even the greatest players have tough sledding in that august company.

HeMateMe: Are there tournaments where one minute chess is the time control? Bullett chess, right? Just wondering, for those above who opine on MaxL being dominant in 1-minute chess, are you referring to things you found on youtube, or games you saw in person? I'm just curious about where to see one minute chess played, among world class players.
