  1. 2010 World Univ (women's) chess championship
    <1st task: It is very possible for the tournament to get rejected, perhaps even if the games present % of 82 could be boosted to about 90-95% (or maybe more, I hadn't checked yet to see which, if any, of the twic source games are missing or were screened from the pgn upload utility process of having players of ~2200 or better at some point mostly in the database).

    2nd task: if the collection is wanted as a tournament, then also constructing a crosstable would be a priority on one of my forthcoming weekends. For this type of 9 round swiss event with a large % of games (larger than 80% or 4/5 players with full, accurate scores on a leaderboard, on average) better displayed in a leaderboard, or perhaps mere list of names (I personally don't mind either, especially when the games present % is very high, but the former (leaderboard style) becomes more accurate as the % approaches 100%)

    3rd task: If I construct a table of my own, I might build it in a style of showing (maybe by starring (*) games in the crosstable whose game is missing or cannot be found, or might not qualify for the database something like a link from the crosstable pairing by round of a row/column, and perhaps over to a shortcut to the relevant game id, perhaps using html to display a 0-1, 1/2-1/2 or 1-0 shortcut overtop of the game of where the pointer is pointing to on the table, and a URL link to the gid in the browser bottom frame panel. Is this a decent style to aim for, does anyone know a "cheat-way" (it would take <me> a while to do <this> carefully) to do this efficiently, or would it even work well for those types of events?! Or maybe not having URL links in a fixed-width crosstable font also has some drawbacks that I do not anticipate, either...

    4th task: if necessary, I would consider organizing all head games by round, and perhaps also by "round1 DOT table[1..m]", "round2 DOT table[1..m]" ... "roundn DOT table[1..m]" order if it would solve the problem of keeping the tid list in a similar round-by-round or round.table order. If it would do this by default (ie when all/most the round.tables seem to be present and correct) anyways, I may skip this part. If this isn't guaranteed to solve the tid games list ordering problem (especially when not 100% of the games might be present), then I could consider ignoring the step of organizing the collection in some order as well.

    This event seems to be related to Game Collection: 2010 World Univ chess championship - but were the pairings done by normal pairings, or by team (ie by players of a particular sex playing on a team of a particular table for perhaps a country or school?! - not sure about this, only speculating here...) pairings, in this case? Further research might want to be done to see how this was organized. Please mention at my forum if you can find other games or improvements.>

    The 11th in the series was held in September at Zurich, probably a 9-round event and approximately 39 players. 38/2 games/round x 9 rounds = 171 games, maximum. http://www.theweekinchess.com/chess... reports 170/171 total were in his pgn file.

    http://www.theweekinchess.com/asset...

    http://ratings.fide.com/tournament_...

    8/9 games in database: Guliskhan Nakhbayeva , Tamara Cheremnova , Mona Salman Mahini , Madina Davletbayeva

    7/9 games in database: Nina Hemmatizadeh , Pauline van Nies

    6/9 games in database: Liria Caetano Garcia , Homa Alavi

    4/9 games in database: Sarah N Longson , Ashanti K Rajapaksha , Yordanka Schlamberger

    3/9 games in database: Maria Heinatz , Hannah Dale , Janine Martinez , Shanila Gunawardena , Ana Margarida Ferreira

    2/9 games in database: Iin Dwijayanti Kadek , Himeshi P de Silva

    1/9 game in database: L G A Liyanagedara

    It appears that many of the players' games who did not have all 9 games in the upload were being screened on not having achieved a rating of 2200+ by the time of the tournament, in the case that their opponent for the particular round did not also achieve 2200+ at some point up to that time.

    135 games, 2010

  2. 2010 World Univ chess championship
    <under construction>

    Held at Zurich in September. Yue Wang scored an astounding 8½/9 to win the tournament outright. A noted Canadian participant was Raja Panjwani , who may have been studying in Great Britain by the time of this tournament. 11th in the series so far. 9 rounds altogether, and 57 players.

    9 rounds x 56/2 games/round ~ 252 maximum total games (ignoring possible unrecorded games of lesser players, withdrawls and/or byes).

    http://ratings.fide.com/tournament_...

    <All pids were checked for these 2010 games on 30 May 2015 here, and so it appears that not more than 10 games total are missing/unavailable.>

    http://www.fide.com/component/conte...

    http://www.365chess.com/tournaments...

    A search on the word "round" in the pgn file of http://www.theweekinchess.com/chess... results in 250/252 hits total.

  8. 2010 WYCO U-16
    <under construction>

    Held at Burdur, Turkey from November 27th until December 4th. Rounds: November 27th: 1; 28th: 2, 3; 29th: 4, 5; 30th: 6 (also opening ceremony, followed by a free day); December 2nd: 7, 8; 3rd: 9; 4th: 10 (of 10 total rounds). Time control: 90 minutes/player + 30 seconds/move. Teams were represented by more than 15 countries, with 22 teams paired altogether.

    Vidit Santosh Gujrathi (India) and Andrey Stukopin (Russia) were 2 of many players performing well for their team's top boards.

    (Team) leader-board after 10 rounds:

    Armenia - 1st; India - 2nd; Russia - 3rd.

    <Interested in other WYCO U-16 series?> For instance: http://wyco2014.esolution.hu/archiv... describes (a round 3, finalized version of) a pgn, round by round (I'm fairly sure that <I - involves a lot of pid spell-checking to see if they're already in the database> didn't upload any of these yet, but instead provided a pointer to the pgn source(s) as a link during another upload in an upload note), this time of round 3 - 10 rounds total, and players would play on particular individual boards of their team pairings. At http://wyco2014.chess.hu/round3 , when I click on r3, and then the s5, does that provide the same pgn source contents link as when trying s5, and then r3? Also, is "r3; s5" the same pgn source file as r3; s7" and/or "r4; s5" or others, or is there an all-rounds, 'master' (to the extent of "as many games as possible available") pgn source file of all rounds and all tables combined? One should note that in the 2014 WYCO, they also seem to use the round.table.board notation to describe a "round" field of a pgn header, which might be useful to keep during upload, since it can help to explain or reconstruct team or round pairings, or due colour for individuals/teams, with respect to a round-by-round leaderboard ranking rules.

  9. 2011 American Continental Championship
    <under construction> - <not all games were apparently uploaded, and if someone else has extra bandwidth to sift through other candidates for upload, then I'd assume that others might consider it>

    A 9 round tournament was held from April 19th - 25th at Toluca, Mexico to qualify players for the FIDE World Cup.

    http://www.fide.com/index.php?optio... http://www.fide.com/index.php?optio... http://ratings.fide.com/tournament_... http://ratings.fide.com/tournament_...

    Mark Bluvshtein, Giovanni Vescovi, Yuniesky Queseda Perez, and Lazaro Bruzon Bautista each tied for 1st-4th with 7.5.

    April schedule: 19th: round 1; 20th: round 2; 21st: rounds 3, 4; 22nd: rounds 5, 6; 23rd: rounds 7, 8; 24th: round 9; 25th: closing ceremonies. A number of players were also playing in the conflicting US Championship (Knock-out) (2011) which was held concurrently.

    http://www.chess.co.uk/twic/assets/... reports that other games exist.

    Game Collection: 2009 Continental championship is perhaps related to this tournament series and Game Collection: 2012 Americas Continental Championship is perhaps the next one.

  13. 2011 Canadian Championship
    <under construction>

    This was a non-zonal year, but the winner was qualified to become a Canadian champion for that year. The results of this tournament also assisted with the selection of some players to qualify for the Canadian Olympiad team, but other factors were also taken in to consideration. 16. 2011 Canadian Post-Secondary Chess Championship
    The tournament was a 4 game weekend event on January 15th-16th, eligible to faculty and students in their respective institutions, with a morning and afternoon team pairing each day.

    Time control was 90 minutes/player + 30 seconds/move. Team rules here were that each team could bring a reserve player, and then have a player sit out for the reserve to fill the lower-most spot, the other players moving up in rating original seeding order to fill the unoccupied seat. Also, once the seeds (the seeding was not necessarily based on a high-low rating order, and the tournament didn't seem to indicate that a team could leave a board empty on a table and still preserve seeding order on the lower boards) were sent in prior to the start of the tournament, players could switch board numbers on a table if they were originally seeded to be placed as side-by-side on another (but, for instance, top seed could not switch to bottom seed position at a table for just one round). Once the team cross-table is found or reconstructed, the board pairing numbers in each table on a round-by-round basis to see whether the round.board format matched what was going on at a table, on a round-by-round basis. This led to certain types of team strategies of the teams, since some players had visited a cafe on the other side of campus between rounds if their morning game had finished early before any afternoon rounds got started. An individual cross-table follows below:

    Hal Bond (Zonal representative to FIDE) and Michael von Keitz (President of the Canadian Chess Federation) were primarily responsible for assigning the pairings, but each team also had a nominee that would act as a captain for appealing any related discrepancies. The captain could also suggest to a player of his team of whether it would be favorable to bring over the particular table's running standings sheet, or, to offer a draw or not, but this was the major extent of their extra powers that they received. Neal Pan was the main contact at the local University of Waterloo to set up room bookings for the hotel and playing venue, and also assisted by registering the teams well in advance of the planned weeks to come.

    So 22 online games + 31 others made for about 53/64 total games. A couple of other anonymous (no names attached to the scoresheets) games were submitted in either the A or B tournament: http://www.chesstalk.info/forum/sho... and http://www.chesstalk.info/forum/sho...

    Notes: there was also a 2nd B section, but this tournament would have 2 cross-tables: (1) an individual players final results [(1)] standings, (2) the pairings by rounds would've been determined by team standings and not by individual standings, (3) these 22 games (these were the carbon-copy sheets of the 64 total games) were those submitted to the Organizers at the time of the upload to this online database, (4) the team pairings are assembled in this collection in no particular order in regards to the team pairing tie-breaks and (5) it is uncertain as to whether an individual table point system was using the 5-4-3-2 system or equal points, regardless of the position on the table pairing to a particular board number for a team (both have been tried in the Canadian leagues in the past as systems to award more favorable future team pairings, etc).

    This tournament series had been hosted by the University of Waterloo [(2)] and were previously hosted by the Great Hall at the U of Toronto's Hart House in 2010 and Queen's in 2009. The 2012 and 2013 editions were hosted by the U of Western Ontario's Mustang Lounge and McGill, respectively.

  17. 2011 Canadian Seniors' Championship
    The organizers of the 21st World Seniors Championship (2011) tournament inquired whether some Canadian players wished to qualify for their event, and so this was one of many opportunities that were organized as a possible requirement for being seeded in to the next stage. IO Hal Bond was the chief arbiter/organizer for this qualifier event.

    Six out of the fifteen games in this round-robin were not submitted to this database (sometimes not submitted at all; sometimes may not have been legible, etc).

    Game Collection: 2010 Canadian Seniors' Championship was the previous tournament in the series.

    Although some players qualified (for instance, William G Doubleday etc) for the 21st World Seniors Championship (2011) at Rijeka, Croatia, the Canadian tournament next year allowed invitees of Canadians Leon Piasetski , Bill Doubleday, Andre Zybura and Pierre Maheux to the 2012 World Seniors' championship (although not all Canadians qualified through this tournament process, since the other relaxed criteria were also honoured to accept participants). Istvan Kiss , Brian McClaren, Leon Piasetski, Zybura and Doubleday competed at 2013 World Seniors' championship as well.
