May-14-04  iron maiden: I love the KID, especially when you can attack with the center this closed.
Jan-13-05  Hesam7: Wow, a superb game by Fischer at his best with excellent notes.
Jan-13-05  Shams: excellent notes indeed-- except for the one to white`s 13th move, wherein Bobby seems to recommend an illegal move.
Jan-13-05  Hesam7: Actually the two games are identical up to move 11. The Gligoric-Tringov game continued: 12.♘b3 f5 13.♗d2 compare to this game: 12.♖b1 f5 13.f3. I think Fischer meant that White should go for the first line.
Sep-25-05  RookFile: 24.... Nh8 is a fantastic move, all the move so when you consider this was a 5 minute game.

Tal thought the Russians should give serious study to Fischer's 5 minute games from this tournament, to prepare for Fischer's assault on Spassky.

Sep-26-05  jackpawn: Very, very impressive for a 5 minutes game. Fischer at that time was simply in a class by himself.

JustCurious: No doubt Fischer was excellent, but nonetheless, at the same event, Korchnoi won a game against him with black in a French Winawer, at the end of which he was a clear rook up! So Viktor was no choirboy either...
Jan-07-06  blingice: Does anyone else feel that Bobby adding "!" and "!!" to his own moves and talking about how great they were and putting "?" on Korchnoi's move's reflect his arrogance?
Jan-07-06  Assassinater: <Does anyone else feel that Bobby adding "!" and "!!" to his own moves and talking about how great they were and putting "?" on Korchnoi's move's reflect his arrogance?>

Look at his other games. He's usually 'honest' when it comes to annotating games, freely giving out ?s and !s when they're required.

Eggman: I wonder where this commentary of Fischer's was originally published. Does anyone know?

Sneaky: Assassinater is right. When it comes to chess analysis, Fischer is brutally honest, and very rarely wrong.

Eggman: You know we all mourn the fact that Fischer and Karpov never played, but it's also quite sad that the 70s incarnation of Fischer played so few games against Korchnoi (1), Tal (0), and other greats.
Apr-19-06  Steppenwolf: Just a blitz. Nothing to fret about. Sneaky has no clue what he's talking about, as usual.
May-17-06  rya: I love the back and forths oh the kibitzing when it comes to RJF. Even his annotation attitude is analyzed!

Great game, good notes.

offramp: I think Fischer's notes come from Chess Meets of the Century by Dmitrij Bjelica.
May-17-06  cyclemath: <I think Fischer's notes come from Chess Meets of the Century by Dmitrij Bjelica.>

Indeed they do. There is an additional note at the end, from either Fischer or Bjelica:

It is interesting to note however that Korchnoi played 9. Nd2 again against Udovic in the "Turnir mira" so apparently he had an improvement in mind.

May-17-06  zev22407: 9)b4 was considered not a strong move in 1970 now it almost refuted the KID
Jun-18-06  notyetagm: <zev22407: 9)b4 was considered not a strong move in 1970 now it almost refuted the KID>

Almost because Black was playing too audaciously against it, according to KID-specialist Joe Gallagher. Now the Bayonet Attack is nothing special, since Black has learned how to play against it.

Jul-11-06  PaulLovric: fichers words, "And here Korchnoi thought for about a minute and a half and not seeing a defence to the double threat of 31...Bxe2 and 32...Qh4+ resigned."............is there a defense?
Aug-08-06  PaulLovric: is there?

No.

Aug-08-06  Hannibal: <Does anyone else feel that Bobby adding "!" and "!!" to his own moves and talking about how great they were and putting "?" on Korchnoi's move's reflect his arrogance?>

This is nothing in comparison to some Nimzowistch annotated games :-)

Aug-08-06  PaulLovric: <keypusher: <Aug-08-06 PaulLovric: is there? anyone>>

No.
i thought not. thanks keypusher

Aug-08-06  KingG: <This is nothing in comparison to some Nimzowistch annotated games :-) > Speaking of Nimzowitsch, Fischer's 24...Nh8!! is reminiscent of Nimzo's famous 18.Nh1!! in Nimzowitsch vs Rubinstein, 1926.
Aug-19-06  RandomVisitor: Rybka agrees with Fischer's 24th move!
