Gabuzyan's IM norms stemmed from his results at the Aeroflot Open B in February 2011, the 4th Karen Asrian Memorial in June 2011 and from the 2nd A. Margaryan Memorial in January 2012.* He scored a 20-game GM norm at the European Championship (2012) with his score of 5.5/11, all of his opponents being GMs, and a 9-game norm at the Albena Open (2012) when he scored the requisite 6.5/9.** He came 2nd in the 2012 European U18 Championship, adding enough points to his live rating by round 8 to bring it up to 2500, thereby meeting the final requirement for his GM title. Placed =2nd at the 6th Karen Asrian Memorial 2013 and 2nd at the European U18 Championship 2013 behind Vladimir Fedoseev. Armenian Champion in 2017.
