lostemperor: Who is this Macieja guy, since there are no playersbiographies in the database? I start to understand how most people feel if they see a name they know nothing about. I mean who is Morphy, Lasker, Tal or even Karpov just to mention some (brilliant) players. It is all NN. to them.

An interview from 2002: http://www.worldchesscup2002.com/in...

Aug-05-03  uponthehill: He's Poland's number one now. What's the problem for an average intelligent person to go www.fide.com and check that (or other) name?
Oct-07-03  uponthehill: On Europe's Club Cup 2003 he had a better individual performance than Shirov, Gelfand and Adams. Is he still NN to you??!!
Oct-07-03  Diggitydawg: <uponthehill> I don't think that lostemperor was slighting Macieja. He was just saying that for people who know nothing about chess, a genius like Morphy is an NN. You have every right to be proud of Macieja's (and Polonia's) performance in the ECC. Were there some brilliancies you noticed from Macieja's play? Are there interesting stories about him? Then please share them with us on this forum. Pozdrawiam.
Oct-08-03  uponthehill: Diggitydawg: Thank you for that words. I defended Macieja as a good chessplayer, but I cannot say that he is a very interesting man. He is strict and disciplined person which shares his life only beetween chess and science: he graduates in physics this year, and he wants to become scientist. Much more light-spirited and interesting person is our third chessplayer, Michal Krasenkow ("imported" from Russia).
May-10-04  Kandelabr: Welcome new champion of Poland.
Jan-04-05  zorro: Btw, what is pronounciation of this guy's name?
Jan-11-05  sleepkid: ...throat wobbler mangrove. Spelled Raymond Luxury Yacht. Or in this case Bartlomiej Macieja.
Jan-19-05  percyblakeney: Macieja is one of few active posters ("Bartek") in ACP's forum:

http://www.chess-players.org/forum/...

Oct-03-05  Maroczy: Macieja drew with China's Bu today. When I first looked it seemed bad for him, king was open but he avoided defeat somehow. I don't know anything about Mr. Xu Bu, a sleeper? This tournament is in Armenia honoring the great Petrosian.
Apr-01-06  Resignation Trap: For more information on this player, visit his home page: http://lichota.net/~george/macieja/... .
Jul-18-06  wlod: Grandmaster Bartlomiej Macieja deserves a bio. He was the Champion of Europe-Batumi, 2002.

Nov-27-07  SetNoEscapeOn: Congrats to Barlomiej on his win today against the monster Radjabov
Nov-28-07  DanRoss53: With the Black pieces, he has Radjabov on the ropes yet again... looks like he might advance with a 2-0 performance against the third seed.
Nov-28-07  arsen387: This guy has become famous today. He won Radjabov 2-0. The biggest sensation in World Cup so far!
Nov-28-07  slomarko: this guy was european champion a couple of years ago.

Gypsy: Eliminated Laznicka and Radjabov thus far -- 1.5:0.5 and 2:0(!), respectively. Bart is on a roll!
Nov-28-07  kazza83: It simply means that chess is still chess regardless of who you are and what's your rating (Macieja's 2-0 win against Radjabov).
Nov-28-07  dx9293: At least half the 128 players are very strong GMs. Such things do happen, and the very best players don't always perform their best against guys who have to "play for their supper."
Nov-29-07  Thrajin: <dx9293>, It appears that Macieja has earned himself quite a feast this time.
Dec-01-07  Maroczy: Finagling a draw today against the highly touted Sasikiran.
Dec-02-07  Maroczy: Congratulations on a decent result.
