CHESSGAMES - BEER

[what is this?]

Beer is believed to be over 10,000 years old. Although no one knows its exact origins, some agricultural historians believe that the first beer may have been produced accidentally when a stash of grain was soaked by rain and then warmed by the sun. If this mixture were spontaneously fermented by wild, airborne yeast—which thrives in just these warm, moist conditions—beer would have been produced (Encarta).

Fermented beverages have been preferred over water throughout the ages: they are safer, provide psychotropic effects, and are more nutritious. Some have even said alcohol was the primary agent for the development of Western civilization, since more healthy individuals (even if inebriated much of the time) lived longer and had greater reproductive success. Smuttynose Brewery

Finestkind IPA • 6.9% ABV • 74 IBU

Our flagship IPA, with citrusy hop flavor coming from a mixture of Simcoe and Santiams and pleasantly balanced by a smooth bitterness from Amarillo hops. >

HARPOON IPA • IPA • 1993 • 5.9% • 42 IBU • 17 EBC

It started as a summer seasonal in 1993 – one of the first IPAs to be brewed on the East Coast. ... Floral and citrus hop notes combine with a sturdy malt backbone to impart a clean, fresh finish.

HeMateMe: Is it true that Hitler upped the national beer formula in 1930s Germany, increased the alcohol content to 10%, to keep Germans happy? I read that somewhere. I've had beers that strong, and they suck. Once you can clearly taste the alcohol, it's like your a bum sucking down a bottle of cleaning fluid.

There's a beer they sell on the east coast here called <4 Loco> that's 10% alcohol. I think it tastes awful, but kids like it. It's beer masked with a fruity flavor (lemonade, strawberry, orange) really knocks you out. It's that beer that kids today will remember first getting drunk on, and then trying to keep their own kids away from it, some day.

Diademas: Hi there to my old foe <john barleycorn>

Love to see you tackeling the important sides of life. As anyone knows there are no good beers from the new world.

If your looking for the best there is just one country that counts! Home of the pedophiles: Belgium! Their trapist beer are just phenomenal, and for the true conneseur Lambic beer! Tastes and smells like a dead rat. How much better can it get?

I thought they were the food that inspired Rock n Roll.

Barleywines are fairly tasty, IMO.

And just under 10% ABV, at 9%, is the most awesome beer in the world, Victory Brewing's "Golden Monkey". It used to be 9.5%.

This is the beer that refutes <Diademas>' assertion that <As anyone knows there are no good beers from the new world.>

Kindly. send a free 6-pack for quality control. In return I send you my expert opinion :-)

Yes, many great beers in Belgium. A Duvels everday is fine.

A beer and place I highly recommend is this:

I would be willing to wager that my pay grade is above yours! :)

Especially if we compare "take home" pay, since you live in Western Europe, the land of heavy taxation.

Unfortunately I have employed myself as the exporter agent, and this agent is notorious for embezzling the beer shipments.
