Jan-20-06 | | EmperorAtahualpa: <BIDMONFA> You are the very, very first EVER to have made it into my ignore list. Congratulations!!! |
|
Jun-02-06 | | themadhair: <BIDMONFA>Unlike <EA> I truly don't believe in ignoring people. But I do have to ask - is there ANY information in the links you post that would make clicking them worthwhile? I mean what is the sense in posting a link on this page to a website that only ends up linking back to this page anyway? |
|
Jun-02-06 | | better: Well, Bidmonfa finds a photo of every obscure unknown player somehow and loads it up on his site for the curious to see. I don't see anything wrong with that. And one post in every player page is not all that bothering. Better than flooding one page with senseless crap like our friend Armenia and others do. We all know what is at the other end of these links so don't click it you're not interested. |
|
Jun-05-06 | | themadhair: <better> I get your point but it is how frequently he/she posts these links that bugs me. It is a clear violation of rule 2 <No spamming, advertising, or duplicating posts.>. I have lost count how many links have been put in the kibitzers cafe. It just bugs me. |
|
Jun-05-06 | | Calli: <Bidmonfa finds a photo of every obscure unknown player> You can just Google the images yourself. Thats all he does. Here is the Gilg image he copied : http://www.toleranz-demokratie.de/j... Found it in 15 sec. But, in fact, doing it yourself can be far more interesting because you will find out far more about Gilg (or whoever) than you will on bidfonfa. |

Sep-27-06 | | Sleeping kitten: Has anyone remarked this guy had a positive score against both Alekhine and Rubinstein ? And even a very strong score against Eliskases ? Well, at the opposite, he wasn't that lucky against Nimzowitsch and Vidmar, who have an overall 100% score against him. |

Sep-02-08 | | TheaN: <EmperorAtahualpa: <BIDMONFA> You are the very, very first EVER to have made it into my ignore list. Congratulations!!!> No offense EA, but yours are actually the kind of posts that induce people to click the ignore button. No reason, plain sarcasm: I don't see a reason to ignore BIDMONFA: <Calli> has a point, but it's still nice that you don't have to search for the not posted pictures yourself. In that, BIDMONFA doesn't do anything wrong. Also, <themadhair>, if this somehow were to be a violation, CG would've flagged or banned BIDMONFA a long time ago. |

Aug-06-12 | | markwell: More revisionist history. There was no Czechoslovakia in 1901. Gilg was born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, ended up in Czechoslovkia-along with several million other ethnic Germans, which is what Austrians are- and was forcibly expelled after WWII. |

Feb-22-17 | | Paarhufer: For those who like to read about Gilg, and who are not afraid of the German language, I mention a booklet by Schmitzer & Wimmer titled <Karl Gilg>
with the subtitle <Internationaler Meister 1901 - 1981> (only within the book), published Rosenheim 1987. The booklet comes with a preface by GM Lothar Schmid, a three page biography (mainly chess), a tournament overview and one-hundred annotated games (96 pages). |

< In 1938, Gilg changed his citizenship to become German. > Thus Gilg became a Reich German (Reichsdeutsche) and was in the group of ethnic Germans that Podsdam Agreement (Allied Powers: USSR, England, USA, and, to some extent, France) directed to be re-settled within the Allied occupation zones in Germany and Austria. (Nearly a quarter million of ethnic Germans (Volksdeutsche) that did not change their Czechoslovak affiliation stayed in place.) <There was no Czechoslovakia in 1901. Gilg was born in the Austro-Hungarian Empire ...> Forgive me my expediency in the service of brevity; Gilg was a Czechoslovak when he was most internationally active. Remains me of an old Rusyn I once met on a train. He claimed to have lived in 7 different countries, over a few decades, without ever moving from his house in Mukachevo. He too was born in Austro-Hungarian Empire. |

"Where were you born?"
"Tsaritsyn."
"Where did you grow up?"
"Stalingrad."
"Where do you live now?"
"Volgograd."
"Where would you like to live?"
