Feb-11-06 | | kvcs: <Yelena Dembo> <SBC> At your site http://www.yelenadembo.com/
you state that you play at ICC, Playchess.com and World Chess Network. Question A => Have you played any Correspondence Chess? If so, you may like to try http://www.cowplay.com/
Question B => Also, other than Standard Chess, do you play any other Chess Variants such as FischerRandom or Chess960 [should be Chess959 as Standard Chess is still possible using the random selection process]? Several <KVCS> players have tried this site, and have found it acceptable. The only one there now engaged in Standard Chess is Agt71/Marie. She is the top female player presently [ELO 1650+].
The best women players to play there have been Thegreatpolgar/Nicki the Dane, Caissad4/Angela, Phoenix/Alexia, MissWorld/Diana, and SBC/batgirl [a member here at Chessgames.com and consummate Chess historian and archiver]. All of these fine players, but MissWorld, have left Cowplay presently. Unfortunately, Agt71 is an outpatient at a hospital and will be taking a long rest period when her last three games are done. She was recognized by our Chess organization as the First Legion of Kings World Champion. Legion of Kings has no Pawns [only nine Kings]. http://www.cowplay.com/index.php?cm... [#1] on left hand column, go to HELP section and click on Legion of Kings. http://mcmablog.blogspot.com/2005/1... [#2]
This announcement has not been officially made anywhere else. Neither has any other Chess organization recognized her title. Zsuzsa Polgar was asked the same type questions. She plays only the FischerRandom and graciously declined an inviattion to play the Legion of Kings variant at Cowplay.com.
However, Ms Polgar was the one to challenge Marie to a Blitz FischerRandon match!! This is being set up now. Question C => When Marie is better, would you like to play her in Cowplay.com in the Legion of Kings Variant? Thank you for you time.

Feb-11-06 | | HannibalSchlecter: In my mind, there's something not quite right about mixing chess and beauty contests. One has an aura of sophistication and intelligence, the other comes off as more of a shallow event. Chess is chess. Beautiful women challenging each other belongs somewhere else like on the Jerry Springer show. It seems the intended idea is to try and broaden the appeal of chess and inject it with new excitement, but I think the result achieves the opposite effect by cheapening the game, hurting its mystique by associating itself with something tacky. |

Feb-11-06 | | Mameluk: <www.ishipress.com> Is this a website or a virus? |

Feb-11-06 | | hintza: A website, but I must say that it has made my computer crash more than once and I thus avoid it. |

Feb-12-06 | | Yelena Dembo: Hi kvcs! Contents are very interesting but they dont interest me at all! I have my own life:) And contents are really far away from chess itself! It is about people opinion on how the girl looks like on the photo. She often looks absolutely different in life! Just the photo was done very well!:) |

Feb-12-06 | | Yelena Dembo: I do play correspondence chess <kvcs>! I have an account on Letsplaychess.com which I find as a very good site! |

Feb-13-06 | | THE pawn: <Yelena Dembo>
Hi miss Dembo! I personally am a big fan of chess engines and all related programation. I have personally programmed my own system that I try to improve it by implanting in the WZA lines extremely precise endgame knowledge ( basic strategies to whole games and what's important and what's not) and so he plays openings and middlegame in sight of a better endgame and the result is really impressive (but far from perfect) So obviously I am a big fan of computer chess and I try to gather as much opinions as I can from eminent chess players such as you. (That'll also help for a project at high school)
I wanted to know your opinion of computers in general, if you believe it will influence dramatically the future of chess, the DEEP BLUE match against kasparov and now the extremely strong Hydra. Thx! |
|
Feb-14-06 | | Yelena Dembo: Hi <THE pawn>! Computers are naturally very important and useful but chessplayers who use them for analysis must know exactly in which positions to use them, how much time to give them to think ,etc I dont play against computers as it is not necessary for me (I play a lot of OTB official tournaments) but I use them often in analysis. |
|
Feb-14-06 | | Yelena Dembo: Thanks <Sneaky>!! I play sometimes on ICC and Playchess under Dembo and YelenaDembo accounts:) You can see all my recent games on ICC by typing hist Dembo:) |

 | | Ron: Hello Yelena: I would like to get some insight on how professional players prepare for a tournament. For example, do they go to the internet in order to find analysis on a game they played, and to research the games of their future opponents? Do they bring a laptop, and play practice games in their hotel room? Is a little physical exercise before a game a good idea? etc |

Feb-26-06 | | mandar: <yelenaDembo>What shld i call u?Yelena,madam,miss.
Do u have freetime nowadays in month of april or may?Tell us some things abt ur schedule, how u practice, how u play, how u manage,(how u study acaemics...if u r a student)how u are training urself to compete agins ur rivals,is there any diet that a player must include.
The reason why i asked u for ur free time in those monts becoz <chess classics> is organising a tournament(correspondence type)It would be really very nice if u participate in it.And another thing i wish to play u in a correspondence match, will u accept my challenge?I am a novice who is fairly good with tactics and wants to improve his chess.I donot have elo rating.
